Close Combat: Panthers in the Fog details the desperate German counter-attack at Mortain, the last chance of the Wehrmacht to stave off defeat in Normandy. Can you match the tenacity of the American defenders of Hill 314? Or can you succeed where the Panzers failed, driving through to the sea and changing history?

LOVED the game 20 years ago, not worth what they are asking for it and others. There are other sites that offer some of the games for much less.
This game essentially simulates actual warfare Only no no no, not the key engagements and pivotal manuevers, but more like the chance skirmishes between the recon forces of both sides involving several dozen men apiece at the approach to some village or another, taking potshots against each other and trying to move the 1 or 2 tanks you have into position without them getting picked off in the process (flip a coin as to whether you succeed), and that more often then not all ends in a stalemate brought about by the casualty aversion of both sides. Then after an hour of mostly nothing everyone withdraws for the night to have a cup of tea, because who needs that village anyhow. Rinse & repeat. Or at least that's how I rationalise it. Either way, the experience just does not make for a particularly fun game. And don't try to tell me that it's just this style of wargame, or how Close Combat requires all this patience or whatever. I played Close Combat before; the 2nd, 3rd and 4th ones. And they were all a lot more enjoyable and intense then this one, while not sacrificing anything of their war simulation aspects.
Close Combat - Panthers in the Fog –
This and Gateway to Caen are my favourite CC games to date. This is the sort of improvement that The Bloody First simply failed to make. My only major quibble is there seems to be an error or two in the weapons file that makes sniper rifles useless, easily modded, but should be patched. There is also a lack of incentive to take company and Battalion level support units instead of just taking tanks, it might have been a good idea to have to separate support categories, one for the Battalion level assets and one for a platoon from the wider battle group. It would also be nice if, during the strategic phase, merged units preserved their kill data and if units could be split as well as merged. Explosion graphics are a little inferior to GtC and both could do with a less tinny sounding set of gun noises and the addition of vehicle engine sounds. Small details aside, this is classic Close Combat. I do find that with waypoints the movement has improved a bit and I find nice additions, like the being able to see prisoners as well as killed and wounded in the casualty set up, the new supply and unit mechanics, to be all good. I like the fog effects too and wish that an updated version of Wacht am Rhein with an expanded 'what if...' strat map was available in this standard. I might even pay Matrix prices for that! If you love CC and get this on sale then you won't regret it, nothing beats Close Combat.
Close Combat always felt like the parentage of a Total War+Men of War Assault Squad combination. Great detail, wonderful scale of battle, deep gameplay.
The turn based strategic map, and real time resolution is still one of the best and most enjoyable formulas out there. I started playing the Close Combat series decades ago when they first came out... one of my first computer wargames and still one of the most enjoyable. This is my first pass with this particular game, and it does seem to be challenging
A masterpiece! The AI still isn't challenging enough but if you have a friend to play with its a great time. Make sure to look up which ports to open on your router if you want to play multiplayer.
Overall a good tactical game. Although the AI is quite stupid in this old CC.
这一作不像之前的CC是重制以前的经典版本,而是跟Gateway to Caen一样是新的题材和战役,而且很多方面都很像,可以说是Gateway to Caen的姐妹篇;
本作的最大特点就是。。。。。可以玩装甲单位玩到爽,感觉是装甲部队对战最多的一部,特别是整连整队的豹式坦克,可以各种伏击和围剿可怜的谢尔曼坦克。。。。还有一个特性就是加入了雾气天气,也算是呼应了游戏标题; 其它部分跟Gateway to Caen很像,就不多说了,可以去参考我对那一作的评价;还有就是其实Gateway to Caen中的爆炸特效是整个CC系列做的最好的,可以利用一些插件把Gateway to Caen的特效替换到本作中去,效果更赞;

Its for those who like close quarters tactics game but its slow, patience is needed to play it.
