Close Combat: Gateway to Caen is a great release in the critically-acclaimed Close Combat series. Gateway to Caen focuses on the largest, concentrated British offensive since the Normandy landings in an attempt to penetrate the German lines west of Caen and cross the Odon River to get the stalled advance moving again.

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Es ist schlecht.
Note: I purchased this game separately from the developer's web site many years ago and only recently re-purchased on Steam, hence the short playtime. I have played through a full campaign via that previous purchase. Solid Close Combat entry, though $40 may feel a bit steep. I think this is not a remake of a 1990s one--Slitherine created a new game using a slightly modified engine. The main differences are in the UI, particularly the strategic map. Do not expect much from the AI--the human side should probably play the attacker (strategically the DUKE forces (Dominion UK Empire)), but smaller operations and battles could be either) for best results. I find this entry in the series especially interesting because from an American point of view the battles for and around Caen (Operations Epsom, Goodwood, etc) are less well known. It's a decent introduction to the battlefield without needing to go there because the strategic maps all correspond. Really illustrates how far Montgomery's forces extended themselves to draw out German armored reserves, which responded enthusiastically. All in all, if you know you enjoy Close Combat and you want more of it, I recommend this. On sale especially.

Units die way too easy- even in cover, i'm a very experienced close combat player but it's just not enjoyable
Love this series of games. The command interface and live strategy require you to think fast and use resources wisely.
you need to think and work out how to crack each area with your troops its not as easy as it seems but rewarding
classic
The CC game series was a masterpiece. Nowadays is terribly outdated, not worth more than 1$ unless you spent hundreds of hours playing with this game 25 yrs ago, at that point this has a personal value and even the crazy sale price i paid is justified.
masterpiece
Nice enjoyable game for history buffs.
simulation de guerre réaliste et difficile. Le jeu est lent, et vous partez avec un nombre défini de personnels et de munitions : pas de ravitaillement en cours, il faut faire avec ce que l'on vous donne.
