This game is an early entry into the "4 people vs 1 monster" genre of co-op horror games. You can play as either a paranormal investigator, or as the monster. There is literally a ton of variety here, as there are a total of sixteen investigators and eight monsters in the game, and both have several skins. The investigators also have twenty-four different flashlights to choose from. Some of the characters, both the investigators and the monsters, are available at the beginning of the game. Some of them are unlocked in stages later on as you level-up, and some of them are contained in the six purchasable DLC packs. Each character has different starting stats (i.e. strengths and weaknesses). Both the investigators and the monsters have three sets of stat modifiers. For the investigators, the first modifier is traits. Each person has two unique traits. The second modifier is what type of skin they are wearing. (For example, Maria has plumber, childish, survivor, and mechanic). The third modifier is the flashlight they carry. Each flashlight has it's own stats, such as battery life length and light range, and also modifies the investigator's stats. For the monsters, the first modifier is also two unique traits. The second modifier is also the type of skin they are wearing. The third modifier is three special powers (For example, Lilith has Glaucoma, Terror, and Cocoon). The monsters also have several idols to choose from. Each idol, when activated, gives either a benefit to the monster when it comes near, or a penalty to any investigator who comes near. When playing as the monster, it can be a little boring at the beginning of the round, because you are usually just wandering around, activating idols, and wondering where the investigators are. Once you find them, however, it's a great thrill to track them... while trying to stay undetected... waiting for the moment one of them separates from the group and you get to pounce on your prey. If you play with people who panic easily, you can even be bold enough to attack the group, knowing there's a decent chance you'll catch one of them as they all scatter. Be careful though. The investigators can stun you (the monster) by shining their flashlights at you, and when that happens you get teleported to a random location on the map, usually a good distance away from them. When playing as a solo investigator, it's very nerve-wracking to be looking for clues in the dark while hoping the monster isn't near you just waiting to pounce. Even when with the group, you stay paranoid, wondering if you can trust your teammates to help each other instead of panicking. If you are with a group who panics when the monster jumps out... sometimes it's the person closest to the monster who gets devoured, and sometimes it's the person with the slowest relfexes. If you get devoured in co-op though, you get to respawn as a ghost and still help your surviving teammates. Graphics look kind of janky today (July, 2025), but they were pretty decent for 2017 when the game was released. The single player achievements are fairly easy to get, but the multi-player ones are difficult to get because there are hardly any people to play with these days. If you want this game, I'd suggest waiting for a good sale when you can get the Complete Edition (base game and all six DLC) for less than $4. Also, due to the lack of multi-player community, I would also suggest having a couple of friends lined up who will buy it at the same time and play with you.
underrated, definitely good fun with friends. many maps and monsters, devs abandoned game because it didn't gain traction BUT the game still runs smoothly and I still have not encountered any game-breaking bugs. Well-designed game, but left in the past... let's bring it back, it has potential.
white noise comeback plsss
Great Game, It felt like I was playing DbD for the first time again. I'm sad that they stopped updating the game though.
A fun 4v1 survival horror, but it's a multiplayer game with no active player base. There is a solo mode, so it's not completely useless (but it's not that fun, the same game but with bots), and as of now (Jan. 2026) you can occasionally find a few other players to join. But as is the case with "dead" multiplayer games, I only recommend this if you can bring your own group. Fortunately it's priced right to buy 5 copies and share if you're into this kind of game and have a group looking for something to play.
Fun with friends and could've definitely taken off if it had been released in a more favourable timeframe. Maybe even today where every month you hear about a new indie coop game popping off. Missed opportunity, truly!
好玩,氛围也很到位,可惜服务器没人了,只能把单机的成就打完了。。
Multiplayer is non active with only 1 mode all maps are basically the same which was upsetting.
