Too simplistic and easy.
You open the game and are immediately thrown onto your ship with two other crew members. The premise is simple, the title of the game is also how you play the game, Click To Sail. Battle is completely automatic but you can use items to buff and heal your party. You will start off unable to choose which level to go but, will be presented the opportunity to buy a map from a merchant. Once you are able to explore freely you will come across random events based on your level where you can recruit new unique units. You will usually have to save them which can be difficult depending on where your party spawns in. You can also get Unique Units by using items so don't skimp on buying all kinds of items from the merchant. The Unique Units are awesome and I highly recommend trying to get them all. Good luck keeping them all alive though. All the basic units will eventually evolve into stronger versions at a high enough level but, the only Unique unit that evolves is the ship captain themselves. So you have to choose the Unique units you level wisely, they will generally have a lot lower health than the evolved units. The game seems to be endless but, you can unlock an ending where the game resets itself and starts from Stage 1, things will be a little different though. With enough updates/DLC there could be endless re-playability and I would love to see that. There is way more content here than you would think 2 dollars would get you. The game is great and I want more like this. Overall I spent WAY more time with this game than I thought I would and I think this game is worth more than 2 bucks. Try it out and Happy Sailing!

A game with decent graphics but the main catching point for me is the background music, absolutely loved it. The battles are fun and just the right difficulty the game is small and can be used as time killer Overall a 9/10 from me
The fun with Auto Battlers comes from the decisions you make outside of combat. This game lacks even that autonomy. Edit 04-2026: Please note that the last game update was more than 3 years ago. This is now abandonware.
Click to Sail is a pirate-themed autobattler with an excellent pixel art style, solid core gameplay loop, and a polished presentation that should please many fans of the genre. I'll admit I'm not usually inherently drawn to autobattlers; usually the loss of direct control that forms the core of their gameplay mechanics grates on me in a way that I find rather unpleasant. Even so, I found a lot to like about Click to Sail, and if you find yourself skeptical of autobattlers as I am, you'll probably still find something to enjoy here. The gameplay loop is as follows: you start off with nothing but three pirates, a simple ship, and a pocketful of gold. You perform your party management tasks while aboard your ship (primarily item usage and rearranging your party orientation), then you sail the open seas, engaging in random encounters, whether they be battles, shops, mysterious traders, or other randomized events. Then it's back to your ship so the loop can begin again. At its core, it's pretty simple, and the bulk of the player's actions really revolve around the buying and using of items at the appropriate times. There's a solid variety of items here, though, which keeps things fresh; both active and passive items can be acquired, and using the active items at the right times during battles can really turn the tides (pun intended) in your favor. The presentation really impressed me as well - the pixel art is expertly-done, the sound effects are great, and the digitized voices used by the NPCs really invoke a wonderful feeling of playing an old PC game from the early 90s. Given the game is still in Early Access, I do have a few critiques that the developers may want to consider: 1. It'd be nice if the game had a proper title screen - while it's not really necessary for gameplay purposes, it would add an additional level of polish. 2. It would be nice if there was some form of meta gameplay progression; right now, it doesn't appear you preserve anything at all when you die, which can be fairly demoralizing. Preservation of some gold or maybe an item or two would go a long way towards mitigating this feeling. 3. More Steam achievements would be nice! 4. Gameplay options for game speed would be great - after becoming familiar with the gameplay loop, I definitely desired things to move along a bit more rapidly. 5. It's not clear to me how the Flee mechanic in battles works; some form of tutorial or simple explanation would be very helpful. 6. Even if you don't have the map/compass item, it would be nice to be able to see what "stage" you're on, even just for tracking your own progress across runs. 7. The difficulty curve in general could use some smoothing out; most times I failed a run, it's because I was dropped into a fight where I was clearly going to get annihilated with no hope of success. 8. Tweak keyboard controls a bit so you can close menus with the same key you used to open them - hit C to close the Crew menu after it's open, rather than having to hit Escape, etc. Lastly - and this is a very personal gripe - the title "Click to Sail" could maybe use a rework. It sort of reeks of "cheap mobile game" vibes, and this game has enough polish and charm that it really deserves better. There's enough lore and story in the game to come up with something a bit more captivating, I think! Overall, a great (first?) effort from developer EdFarage, and I look forward to seeing what comes with more development. daora daora 👍
Is it worth $2? Yes. But there are so many other titles that have done this genre better. It's too clunky and unseamless.
At one point I had the King of England, a giant turtle and pirate Bob Ross and what looked like a member of the Night's Watch on my crew until we all got wiped out by a couple of ducks. Click To Sail is a quirky game in a good way. It's part rogue-lite, part CYA book, part auto-battler.. wrapped up in a pirate aesthetic. A lot of times when seemingly simple games try to stray from a formula too much and incorporate all the things you get an unintuitive mess but it works here. Probably because the bulk of the game is literally controlled with a single click.... to... sail.. to your next destination, and this helps keep any scope creep at bay. These types of games thrive on content to populate the mass of random outcomes and events to prevent runs feeling stale or samey and while this is probably my largest gripe (there just not being enough of these) I know that this is what Early Access is actually for and the price of the game, even currently, is well worth it. I just want more, which is a good thing. Recommend.
Casual Idle RPG where the main character is a pirate who is forming his crew. As you acquire people for your ship, the more you manage to advance in the more difficult stages and the more rewards you get from these incursions. The game mechanics are very interesting and the light style is a differential. I really enjoyed the game and recommend it to everyone who enjoys this style!
