Many explained before me in great length what are the missing pieces and what ruins the game experience for some. I've forced myself through the game due to high praises. I was really displeased with game mechanics, boring time sinks (sometimes crazy amounts, at least for me) and the graphics and level design were really not up my alley, feeling sometimes I'm walking around in a maze of mess with blob like enemies. You spend a crazy amount of time walking around trying to find things and fighting the same enemies over and over and over and for getting so little story content. I'm sure that the combat mechanics and farming can be satisfying for a certain group of people, and even I can enjoy that in some games, but I was looking for a great story, not a challenge of QTEs and farming the same dude 30 times to get stronger and learn their movement patterns. The music was great and the story was more or less interesting, but after a few hours of gameplay the most critical story parts are becoming kind of easy to guess, but still, there were some interesting surprises. Some of the character designs I really liked and voice acting was nice. As many said before me it's great to see such games are still being made and the studio doing so with such a small team is wonderful. Unfortunately, for me, the game still feels mediocre at best and I have to agree that this game is way overhyped for some reason. Nonetheless I'm still curious about their next game. I hope it would be something that I can cherish more as for this one it was a real pain to complete it at some points. I whish the studio all the best and I hope I can be with you guys on the hype train for their next Clair Obscur installment, but this one was overall an unpleasant experience for me. :(
Absolute masterpiece
