B grade. I really latch onto resource management games, so I quickly sank a workweek of hours into this and it scratched the itch. But, there's not much payoff towards the end. My outfit scraped by until it had enough money, and then, once it had money, didn't have enough stuff to spend it on. The combat was disappointing and mostly irrelevant in my playthrough. The biggest disappointment was there wasn't an international connection, smuggling from Canada, corruption of the railroad.
This game is good. It's got a lot of great elements especially once you've fully bought into the DLC. However, there is so much room left that this game missed out on that keeps it from being a great game. The lack of illicit business types and avenues of profit that are traditionally used prevents it from truly shining above all other games in it's genre. While there are aspects of this game that I like over it, Gangsters: Organized Crime from 1998 is a better overall game in my opinion. When I first saw this look of this game and watched some play previews I had high hopes it would fill the void that had been missing since G: OC faded away, but alas I find myself looking back and finding ways to play the OG Gangsters game when this one inevitably lacks depth and starts getting way too micromanagement heavy. Looking back at this review it definitely reads like I don't recommend it. I do though. There are players out there that will truly enjoy the management and feel of this game overall. I in fact to enjoy this game, to a point. So if it (and it's DLC) are ever on sale for say 30% or more it's definitely worth the purchase if you are into Mafia management games. TL;DR It does a lot right, just feels slightly shallow.

Nice rts game, worth the buy
Good Game. Once you get the functions down it becomes addictive.
it gives you a feel for what it was like in that era in some sort
great art style with easy to remember mechanics and UI. very easy to get lost in expanding your territory, income and crew. Definitely worth it. Have only done the gambling expansion so far but that one seems like its just as fun and brings new income in.
