The history is fascinating, the story is well-written, and your choices very definitely matter. I actually almost cried at the high-techne ending, almost feeling and seeing that world and knowing what really happened to her, and what could have been if we'd only had more courage and less hate. I strongly recommend.
This was interesting, but it's one of the weaker CYOA games. As an advisor/tutor you decide where to focus your efforts and the game gives you alot of interesting possibilities. But there isn't alot of drama, action, or suspense. You make a decision, a few years will pass, you see the effects of that decision, and then another decision comes up. A few other points to consider: -Seven different endings. -There's no measure of how much influence your rival has. So it makes you wonder: do i go all in on this decision or does he have a secret advantage? -Short but had enough choices and was well written. Choices have big impact. -Immediately wanted to play again.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself with this offering, and will likely buy more of a similar type in the future provided the subject matter interests me. The historical knowledge of the author made this game the enjoyable piece that it was, and I was satisfied with the outcome of my choices. They were believable and well-thought-out. I will be seeing what consequences the other choices produce in the near future. You can't beat the enjoyment level, educational quality, and fun for the price. It is a delight for the theater of the mind.
Another great story with an interesting and historic background. It could stand to be a bit longer, but regardless, I found it quite enjoyable. Overall I would give it an 8/10.
I received this game as a gift from a friend who knew I loved Choice games. I would have to say while not the best Choice game, its certainly not the worst. Some parts a little boring, the romances don't feel like your very connected to the person, and the ending really threw me off. But it wasn't bad. I say get this one if you just love Choice games and really want something new and Alexandria themed.
A Game by Choice of Games That I Wish Was Longer. Overall I enjoyed the read and the various paths one can follow, however I wish it was longer. Otherwise a good story that continues to give CoG their good name in creating text-based adventures.
She swoons and lies back on her kline, her eyelids closed and fluttering. "How can I die still so ignorant? It's so unfair…so much I'll never know…." She then passes away. 我永远喜欢欧几里得.jpg
One of the more fun interactive fiction games I've ever had the pleasure of playing! The choices are simple but profound and the story is well written with no chaff. It takes a couple of hours to make it all the way through but by the end I find myself wanting to try again.
I sorely wish the game was longer, as I managed to get through it in the space of a few hours in my first playthrough. Nonetheless, this game is fantastic for those that share a love of history and reading. The period this is set in: The Ptolemaic dynasty of Egypt and the Great Library at Alexandria- is a fascinating time, filled with intrigue, wonder and mayhem. The multiple potential endings mean this game has good replay-ability and as someone new to this genre of games i look forward to it. I do recommend this game to my fellow history buff gamers. Praise Zeus-Ammon!
