I played this game 10 years too late
404 in the main menu. 24.99 price tag. not dead but still selling 7.99 usd skins straight from the main menu to the sub hundred people that check in with the game. big positives are the fact there are dedicated servers whatsoever so people can choose to play the game with other people in a manner that pleases them and bot support which gives basic gameplay modes along with a horde mode offline support as well. if you want to get wild there is also the workshop. it would be real swell if they put the game down to like 10 bucks, seems like a sane price to me. I would say lower but they gotta make their money. current base price being more than half the price of something like arc raiders is pretty wild. like I get the approach of I know what I got and its worth this much forever and fair enough but it certainly loses value when you boot the thing up and one of the first things you see is some html error and the mouse cursor is all laggy cuz its rendering the mouse at a locked ue3 smoothed frame nonsense. one of the other things I liked about it is it might be the last implementation of the unreal engine vote menu that was so so good, at least in ut2k4, it feels like it has that same DNA. let me know in the comments if theres a later unreal engine game that features a robust yet minimalist UI for mode \ map and possibly mutator voting support. I also like the sounds in the game, lots of nonsense shouting to do which I reckon was probably at least half of the time spent doing between and even during fighting. positive review comes when they can scrape the money enough to give the game a kick in the tush update to make the 404 error a nice picture of a lizard or something cool like a jet fighter and bring the price down to like 5 bucks or something we can meet in the middle on. or heck just raise the price if the strategy is to eliminate competing with yourself or making newer games look bad when this one has plenty of function
Cant say i recommend you buy cause the servers are empty , but man this game was good.
For the Agatha!!!
Game is absolutely dead but the one lobby of degenerates playing this game was kind of fun. No one taking it seriously, everyone lining up for 1v1s. HONOUR IN DEATH.
Despite the name there's no chivalry to be found in these dark times.
Might possibly be one of my absolute favorite games. I'm not sure if it was the time in my life when it was around, or if the nature of the game itself, but I dont think anything will ever come close to capturing the same wonderfully chaotic vibe that this game did in it's prime.
The community banter and silly roleplay was the only charm back in the day, yet now the silence is deafening, leaving only the echoes of what was once a thriving medieval warzone.
I've played Chivalry: medieval Warfare since 2014. Something that is funny about that is that I actually purchased the game on Steam a couple years earlier. I wish I had really started playing and gotten into the game when I first purchased it, because I felt stupid when I finally jumped in and starting having the most fun I've probably every had in a POV fighting game. My fascination with this game started when I first saw that it was a fighting game that put you behind the eyes of a warrior wielding a two-handed sword, as well as many other medieval weapons. My excitement about that kind of game stemmed from when I first saw the Star Wars Trilogy arcade cabinet in a movie theater and saw the part where you play as Luke Skywalker fight Darth Vader in their light-saber battle in the Emperor's throne room. The first time I saw that, I said to myself, 'they've finally made the game I've wanted forever!' So, when I saw that Torn Banner had basically based an entire game around that premise, I loved it and haven't stopped loving it. The rest is history.
