Tries to be a bit like Mega Man with some Lolipop Chainso vibes. Obliterate aliens using your trusty chainso. You can splash enemies into bits and collect orbs of doom to fill up your special gauge. Controls are ok for the most part - dash, combo attack and do special attacks that have a few different variations. Level design is sometimes doubtful and you gonna have troubles not falling into pit. The more you play the more boring it becomes - that's the main con here. Because of its content game might be disturbing for some people. Visuals are some pixel art that takes inspiration from 16-bit era and other popular games. Music is decent. Play if you like side scrolling action platformers with chainso. POWAH UPOO!
Is has the worst combination of focus on aerial fights, death pits and lots of limiting traps; and imprecise, slow and floaty movement and combat completely contrary to what you would expect from a game with that elements. Didn't even finish the first run because it wasn't fun at all. I recommend you try Metal Unit instead.
_____________8__88_____8 ____________88_8__8_____8 ___________888_____88___88888 __________8888______88_8____88 _________8888_______88______8_8 _________8888_______88______8_8 _________8888_______8_______8 _________8888_____8_______8 __________88888____8______8 ___________8888888______8 __888_________88888_8 8888888________88_____ _8888888_______8_____ __888888_______88_____ ___88_____8_____8_____ ____8______8____8_____8_88 _______8888_8__88_8_88888 _____888888_8_88__8888888 ____8888888__88______88888 ____88888_____8_________888 ____88_________8__________8 _____8_________8_____ _______________8_____ ____________8_8_____ _____________88_8_____ ______________88_____ ______________8_____
Decent enough game with an amazing art-style and fun music that is unfortunately accompanied by controls too clunky for the type of combat experience it wants you to have, It feels like a game I would have definitely enjoyed as a kid but it's not something I can honestly recommend.
Damn, I wish I could enjoy this game. A mix of very well composed music, characters inspired by The Powerpuff Girls (according to the Bleeding Cool article I read), well-animated attacks that feel right out of Smash, expressive enemies that feel right out of MapleStory, and blood trails from Super Meat Boy. Unfortunately the gameplay itself doesn't hook you into playing more. There is no major variation in your playstyle throughout the game. Don't get me wrong, it makes for great demo but lacks the oomf that keeps one wanting to build and upgrade your character. Which brings to mention - upgrades aren't explained well enough. You pay for upgrades with your blood but you can also kill enough enemies in a minigame and get upgrades for free? Getting attacked is no issue if it's just NPCs attacking you. In the lower difficulties, getting injured once or twice by NPCs isn't a big deal, but getting killed by the boss sends you back to the beginning of the stage (no checkpoints to speak of). It seems to try and speak to a new generation, but the new generation is going "hang on, grandpa, I'm playing Fortnite, ♥♥♥♥ off with that weird wannabe Duck Souls ♥♥♥♥." Even though the dev team shuttered a few years back, I'm optimistic they're able to take the lessons they learned into this game and improve the combat experience in future works.
This cute game is, despite how it looks, a homage to the Super Smash Bros single player experience, specifically the Subspace Emissary from Super Smash Bros Brawl. This game is essentially a beat 'em up with boundaries. So there are segments where if you fall off a cliff or go too far left or right, you get a penalty, just like in Smash. There are segments where you are stuck in place, and in order to proceed, you have to clear out all enemies currently on your screen. I do like the boundaries because most enemies almost play by the same rules. So if a flying enemy flies off screen on their own, they essentially self TKO. This also means that most enemies have to be on screen in order to be your enemy, so you do not have to worry about getting attacked from offscreen enemies (for the most part). There are even a couple of levels where you have to traverse up or to the right with the game taking control of the camera, so if you are not fast enough, you will get offscreened. Like in Smash, you can also choose an assortment of different fighters, though the roster here is a lot smaller than the modern Smash games of today. The main difference, aside from the aesthetics, is that Chenso Club has roguelike elements to its levels and powerups. This is also in addition to the main hub where you can give coins to certain followers in order to confer certain, unique permanent benefits to your selected player character. I especially like the keyboard and mouse control scheme. Most roguelikes and beat 'em up seem to believe that the mouse does not exist; not only does the game default to using the left and right click of the mouse, you can also assign the side mouse buttons. It means the action set pieces easier for the constant keyboard and mouse enjoyers. Overall, I can recommend this game if you like Super Smash Bros as a singleplayer experience.
6.5/10 + Works on windows 7 + combat + tons of upgrades + art style + music + 10$ price tag - could do with a little less gore, kinda over the top - how about you remove the flying enemy's that ♥♥♥♥ on you??? - alt tab out well playing with xbox controller and now i cant use my xbox controller until i reset game. - turned the game back on and lost all my stuff........ i can still start from the area i was on but i dont have any of my buffs i purchased on the run.... i had sooo much ♥♥♥♥..... - in game shop can sell the same items 2 or 3 times and you can only have 1 of said item
