The good: The solitaire is balanced, on the easy/casual-side, with good unlockable power-ups. There are a helluva lot of levels. More than 30 hours worth for me. The meh: Mini-games are fun, but once you don't need cash in the late game, I found myself skipping them. The art, story and theme were okay, but I really wish I'd gotten background art that reflected the state/stage I was in. The bad: Like so many other solitaire games, you end up getting most of your power-ups about halfway through. Which makes money meaningless in the late game. The last 10 hours was a bit of a slog. Verdict: It's not the best solitaire on Steam, but it's a solid entry. Wait for a sale, though.
this has been one of the best solitare i have played for awhile lots of fun...and awesome graphics as well
Chef Solitaire: USA is a relaxed, content-rich solitaire experience developed and published by The Revills Games that reimagines classic card play as a journey across the United States, framed through the lens of building and managing a growing restaurant business. Instead of presenting solitaire as a series of disconnected hands, the game wraps its card mechanics in a light narrative about expanding a culinary empire, giving each completed level a sense of purpose beyond simply clearing the tableau. From the beginning, the tone is welcoming and approachable, designed to ease players into a steady rhythm of play where progress feels tangible and rewarding rather than abstract. At its core, the game remains faithful to traditional solitaire mechanics, relying on familiar rules and layouts that will be instantly recognizable to casual card players. What elevates the experience is how these mechanics are tied to a progression system built around stars and services. Completing a hand efficiently earns stars, which are then used to unlock new locations, restaurants, and challenges across different states. This structure transforms individual games of solitaire into steps along a broader path, encouraging players to think not only about winning a hand, but about how well they perform. With hundreds of levels spread across dozens of locations, the game offers a surprisingly extensive amount of content, making it well-suited for long-term, low-pressure play. To prevent repetition from setting in too quickly, Chef Solitaire: USA introduces occasional variations and side activities that break up the standard card loop. Small mini-games and bonus events appear at intervals, offering brief diversions that fit the restaurant theme, such as assembling food items or completing simple visual tasks. These moments are intentionally lightweight and optional, adding flavor without distracting from the main attraction. Players who prefer a purist solitaire experience can largely ignore these extras, while those who enjoy variety may appreciate the way they refresh the pacing during longer sessions. Visually, the game adopts a clean and friendly presentation that emphasizes clarity and comfort. Card designs are easy to read, interfaces are intuitive, and backgrounds shift as new states and restaurants are unlocked, giving a mild sense of travel and progression. The restaurant and map screens provide a change of scenery between hands, reinforcing the feeling that you are moving forward rather than repeating the same activity endlessly. The art style is not flashy or modern in a technical sense, but it is consistent and polished enough to support extended play without becoming tiring. Sound design and audio presentation further reinforce the game’s relaxed atmosphere. Background music is soft and unobtrusive, designed to fade into the background rather than demand attention, while sound effects provide gentle feedback for card movements and completed actions. The inclusion of voice narration for the main character adds personality and warmth, helping to humanize the experience and strengthen the sense of a journey being told alongside the card play. These elements combine to make the game feel cozy and approachable, well-suited for unwinding rather than intense concentration. Narratively, Chef Solitaire: USA keeps its ambitions modest but effective. Short diary-style entries and brief story moments contextualize progress, offering small insights into the protagonist’s journey as new locations are unlocked. This storytelling is intentionally light, never interrupting gameplay for long stretches, but it adds emotional texture and a reason to care about advancement beyond numerical completion. Traveling from state to state provides a steady sense of momentum, even though the underlying mechanics remain consistent. Overall, Chef Solitaire: USA succeeds by understanding its audience and goals. It does not attempt to reinvent solitaire or introduce complex systems that might alienate casual players. Instead, it enriches a familiar formula with structure, charm, and a generous amount of content, making it easy to return to again and again. For players who enjoy classic card games paired with gentle progression, a friendly theme, and a stress-free pace, it offers a long-lasting and satisfying experience that turns simple solitaire into a comforting cross-country journey. Catchy go back to. Lengthy, USA states are so many to open a franchise chain in. Story is background but interesting with a humorous touch. Mini games are simple but spring up in the pack or out of the blue which can be fun. The actual solitaire element is fairly easy and combo's can be chained quickly as the cards are easy on the eye. Rewards through the game keep you playing for additional cooking tools for purchasing as also are the achievements which are well placed. Good for the casual library.
card game + skippable mini-games! nice music jazzy piano. A table!
