Do not buy this game. It is underbaked, crashes frequently, and generates unwinnable singleplayer scenarios. For example, right-clicking issues a rally / attack order. Until sometimes it doesn't. Units seem to completely ignore rally orders that are a good distance away, so you have to breadcrumb them. Siphoning energy seems to just randomly pull it from anywhere (including your own units), instead of prioritizing environmental sources. The micro involved in siphoning and fortifying is interesting but a little mind-numbing. You often have to click UI elements multiple times to get them to register. Units on build orders will give up trying to build to attack enemies, which makes setting up fortifications under fire extremely frustrating. The levels are also designed (well, generated) quite poorly. For example, the fourth level Extermination often generates these big warrior enemies right next to your base camp that, when killed, detonate and completely destroy your base, with no ability to stop it. In two subsequent iterations of the same level, it generated invulnerable enemies outside the mission perimeter, making it unwinnable. So the end result is a game that looks cool and is doing something genuinely different and interesting in the RTS space, but the controls are so jank and frustrating that you'll be struggling against them more than the actual game enemies.

well, the good news is that the second time i replayed level 3 all of the enemies spawned in bounds and i was able to complete the level. the bad news is that the game hardcrashed before i saw the victory screen. it also seems like there's very little depth to the single-player the vibes are immaculate, at least, but perhaps the game needed a little more time in the oven?
I love how this game looks and sounds - Many will hate it, as it's quite polarizing. It's uncompromising in its vision and have big respect for that. (The game literally looks and feels how the screenshots and trailer on the store page feel. If you hate it - you will hate it.) I love that there's no forced tutorial that patronizes you like you've never played a video game before. It's a real "just figure it out dude" type of game. What you're even supposed to be doing and what your UI means are both very opaque when you first dive in. You don't really start learning until you start dying. There is HEAPS OF POTENTIAL here but it's very janky right now. Selecting units feels like a chore - UI elements often just don't even register when you click on them. Units just have a mind of their own and you can "make suggestions" to them but they can and will just get stuck at the edge of the map shooting at nothing, and there's nothing you can do about it. I think I really like this game, but it feels like things are just not working as intended right now. I hope it gets sorted out. Right now this is a "put it on your wishlist and wait a bit" type of game. Or if you wanna just be immersed in the awesome vibes, grab it now and enjoy yourself until you don't.
No, This game seriously hurts my eyes and somehow my ears, like some painful frequency. And honestly I i am going to refund this, I will never be able to even try to figure out what to do in this game. Super beyond confusing in the start and the pain of even trying to read anything yet alone figure out what your trying to do even though its written in the obj, The controls and pain, pain. This game is literally not healthy to play. Seriously the videos of the game vs actually playing it for the not even 5 mins i couldn't. good luck devs. REfunding
I'm going to give this a like because I love this vision and want to support the devs, but right now it's extremely hard to play this game because of numerous issues. For example I can't click on a tile to bring up building menu unless I spam click it, and even then it's not always pops up, so game is almost unplayable for me. But I love the visuals and the atmosphere, although the sound mixing is a bit rough (the sound of resource collection and other beeps and boops are just exhausting after a few seconds, never had this experience with other games).
Really cool art style - definitely something fresh in the genre. Controls are a little janky and not well explained - may be easier with controller? But overall decent - good price at the moment has heaps of potential.
This should be considered late stage early access. The clicking on menu items is wonky (use the keyboard shortcuts when you can) The game can crash (happened to me on the third mission) the game can glitch out leaving you in a post-win scenario without registering the win (happened to me on the third mission) ((if it isn't a glitch and for example an enemy unit was hiding in a corner... see the AI comment)) AI (of your own units) needs either more intelligence, or some way to influence priority. The rally point isn't sufficient or needs improvement All tool tips, and notifications need improvement on detail and clarity. The sound needs work in quality, and should be more adjustable. But it's cheap, unique, and fun when you get the hang of it. Plus it's like two guys working on it? Synthetik was two guys and was more polished at release but I'm not judging. Support the devs. It's good enough despite the work it really needs. Plus they are still working on it unlike bad devs that release a game and immediately drop support.
I am giving this game a good review because I think there's a lot of potential in it! A truly engrossing vibe. It's a new game by an indie game developer, and therefore should be given grace. I'd also like to over some constructive criticism: The UI is hard to understand. It will have tutorial-based information, but will use language I have not heard yet in the game. I think if there was a way to make it easier to navigate the menus, I'd never stop playing this thing.
the game has been updated due to the recent negative reviews, do not listen to the patch notes, the tutorial that was added was a popup that appears on screen every 30 secs to yell at you for not immediately understanding the game, while your units do not listen to you at all, and you can't build structures until after 5-10 minutes of research per building, the in game audio sliders do not work, so you can't adjust any sound options at all. the text is hard to read, and all units will just do nothing until they die and you pass by because a pre built structure wins the map. do not buy, do not wish-list.
Things this game has going for it: Aesthetics Things this game has not going for it: Basic playability, useable controls, intuitive UI, literally anything outside of the art department Everything is needlessly obtuse, from the camera movement that seems to have forgotten twenty years of video game history, the path finding that'd see your units outdone by blindfolded toddlers on a sugar high, a seeming need to micro everything amidst the horrifically inane, iniquitously janky controls, the list goes on. To the 'tutorial' that was implemented, it is the most basic explanation of UI elements and controls (that still don't work) that progress in tandem with the paper thin attempt at a story campaign that I genuinely couldn't be bothered to explore or progress in, for I'd be better investing my time literally slamming my head into a wall rather than doing it digitally by trying to glean some semblance of 'play' out of this 'game'. Attempting to make your units accomplish even the most basic of tasks is akin to repeatedly stubbing your toe for the first time in your life, every time. Understanding the interface, which is somehow both cluttered but offering a severe lack of information when relevant is an exercise in futility, to which you'd have a greater chance to figure out just what makes Twitter users so patently insane. What you see is quite literally, what you get, it's style. There's no substance here, unless if you were to consider the hypothetical distilled mental anguish created via making an attempt to digest whatever completely inane thought process (or lack thereof) there was behind transferring the vision of this assumed far future fiction into an actual viable, enjoyable product. To which point, was completely failed. There's no positive reviews praising the satisfying controls or engaging gameplay, only surface level empty observations that yes, it does in fact look nice, and they sure do hope that maybe, some day, whoever's behind it can produce software that doesn't induce a feeling of existential dread in the knowledge that it was actually meant to be legitimately used, and not just some sick joke to which the creator watches over your shoulder, snickering dubiously as you flounder to even complete the most supposedly straightforward objectives. TLDR: Put simply, you'd have better luck booting up Wallpaper Engine if you wanted something nice to look at and equally playable as this.
