About

Winner of Best Indie Game at the 2024 New York Game Awards and nominated multiple times at other ceremonies including The Game Awards and the BAFTA, Chants of Sennaar is a critically-acclaimed puzzle and adventure game developed by Rundisc.
Divided since the dawn of time, the Peoples of the Tower no longer speak to each other, isolated by fear or mistrust. It is said that one day, a Traveler will find the wisdom to break down the walls and restore the balance. Travel the endless steps of a prodigious labyrinth, uncover the truth and unveil the mysteries of this fascinating universe where ancient languages are both the lock and the key.

Inspired by the myth of Babel, discover an enigmatic and vast tower. As the Traveler, delve into a world full of mysteries, where Peoples have grown distant, unable to communicate with each other anymore. Begin your adventure in a prodigious tower inhabited by five distinct Peoples, observe, listen, and strive to mend the bonds of distrust.

With a smart gameplay system, explore and solve various puzzles to uncover the mysteries of five different interconnected languages. Always guided by your trusty notebook, note each symbol, keep track of your surroundings, engage in conversations with people and unravel the meaning of every glyph. Each step will pave your way to the top of the Tower as each word will restore the link between People.

Dive into an enthralling and colorful world full of secrets. Tumble headlong into a beautiful world inspired by impactful European comics authors where every floor of the Tower possesses its own visual identity, supported by distinctive technological levels, architecture and culture. Embark on a poetic and enchanting journey driven by a soul-stirring, lyrical soundtrack, made by Thomas Brunet.

Reviews
好玩
Good puzzle game with a simple but compelling message. Learning alien languages as a game mechanic has a natural and satisfying progression to it. Previously done in games like Outer Wilds and No Man's sky, is an obvious perfect fit for a proper puzzle game. Clearly a lot of thought and effort went into this, and it is fun to learn the different dynamics of this world and how connected it is. Can sometimes be a little annoying though. Stealth sections are whatever, travelling around is slow and the fast travel terminals' locations are easy to forget. If you have made a mistake, bruteforcing a journal page feels like a less stressful option compared to retracing your steps and looking over the hints again. The game would really benefit from a map and a more permissive fast travel system, for example it could have only been usable on the floors you've already completed. One puzzle towards the end of the game was also inexplicably more complex than anything else in the game, which by itself wouldn't be an issue if the game made clear it expected something like this from the player. Blue Prince has many puzzles that are more challenging than the one I'm talking about, but their inclusion feels less out of place both because of their optional nature and the game having a more gradual buildup in terms of difficulty. Overall, this is a well designed game that I would recommend if its premise sounds interesting to you and you don't mind a slower and more methodical pacing.
Absolutely beautiful graphics, an extremely compelling story, and puzzles that are both intellectual yet fairly straightforward so you're not stuck forever at one part.
