About

Winner of Best Indie Game at the 2024 New York Game Awards and nominated multiple times at other ceremonies including The Game Awards and the BAFTA, Chants of Sennaar is a critically-acclaimed puzzle and adventure game developed by Rundisc.
Divided since the dawn of time, the Peoples of the Tower no longer speak to each other, isolated by fear or mistrust. It is said that one day, a Traveler will find the wisdom to break down the walls and restore the balance. Travel the endless steps of a prodigious labyrinth, uncover the truth and unveil the mysteries of this fascinating universe where ancient languages are both the lock and the key.

Inspired by the myth of Babel, discover an enigmatic and vast tower. As the Traveler, delve into a world full of mysteries, where Peoples have grown distant, unable to communicate with each other anymore. Begin your adventure in a prodigious tower inhabited by five distinct Peoples, observe, listen, and strive to mend the bonds of distrust.

With a smart gameplay system, explore and solve various puzzles to uncover the mysteries of five different interconnected languages. Always guided by your trusty notebook, note each symbol, keep track of your surroundings, engage in conversations with people and unravel the meaning of every glyph. Each step will pave your way to the top of the Tower as each word will restore the link between People.

Dive into an enthralling and colorful world full of secrets. Tumble headlong into a beautiful world inspired by impactful European comics authors where every floor of the Tower possesses its own visual identity, supported by distinctive technological levels, architecture and culture. Embark on a poetic and enchanting journey driven by a soul-stirring, lyrical soundtrack, made by Thomas Brunet.

Absolutely loved this game. I don't play many puzzle games, but the combination here of exploration, puzzles, language puzzles in particular and the beautiful art just did it for me. Must play if you like puzzle games or if, like me, you did not know there were language puzzle games out there.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This game has many things. Amazing art direction, great music, superb atmosphere. It also has the best puzzles. The concept of the game is build on trying to understand another person. Once you solve a puzzle, your character gets more understandable words in their vocabulary and they start to understand world around you a little more. Later, your multilingual skills start to change your surroundings as well when you are a mediator between different tribes. In my eyes it was a great retelling of the Babel Tower myth. Overall: 5/5
Clever puzzles in a charming world. Gradually becoming better at translating the languages is satisfying.
The game gives up on it's gimmick almost entirely by act 4, and substitutes decoding from context clues for giving you fragments of text you already know and a fragment you don't. In the final act the game completely gives up and gives you the final code for solving a set of very generic puzzles.
Fun puzzle cool story game
Seriously one of the best games that I've ever played. The attention to detail, the depth of the story, and the way the languages are all constructed makes this an amazing title!
破译字符过程中一度怀疑自己是不是脑袋有问题,但不妨碍我说巴别塔是神作!
Few puzzle games manage to connect their central mechanic and their theme as perfectly as Chants of Sennaar does. The best part is obviously deciphering the languages yourself. You start with symbols that mean absolutely nothing, then slowly identify individual words, grammatical patterns, sentence structures, and eventually reach the point where something that looked completely alien half an hour ago suddenly becomes readable. That process is incredibly satisfying. The first two languages were probably my favorites. They are also the easiest, while the third, fourth, and fifth layers become progressively more difficult. I eventually had to use a little help near the end because the last couple of sections were simply too difficult for me to solve completely on my own. Still, figuring out most of the languages myself was easily the highlight of the game. What makes the game much more interesting than a simple translation puzzle, though, is how perfectly the gameplay fits its Tower of Babel inspiration. In the biblical story, humanity's shared language is divided, people become unable to understand one another, and they scatter. Chants of Sennaar takes that idea and turns misunderstanding itself into the central conflict. Different peoples live within the same tower but remain separated by language, culture, assumptions, and prejudice. As the player, you don't solve that problem by becoming stronger or defeating an enemy. You learn how everyone speaks. By understanding each group well enough to translate between them, you gradually become a bridge between cultures that have forgotten how to communicate. That's such a simple idea, but turning language learning itself into the mechanism through which you restore communication and peace is brilliant. Not a long game, but one of the most conceptually elegant puzzle games I've played. BTW I also love the art style.
