pretty buggy atm, the maze does not register when i finish it, i only got the scroll through restarting the game 20 times. also the item menu dissapears when you press ESC
A point&click puzzle game that promises tough challenges but either fails to deliver in this prologue, or I failed to understand what’s going on. It doesn’t help that the game is very buggy, and it never indicates what is clickable, how to use the inventory, or how to interact with most of the objects on screen. You’re tasked with returning a page to a book in the library. I’m not sure if there is a logical way to figure out where the library is, but just trying all the (few) possible locations worked much faster. Once in the right place, a few easy puzzles lead you to the book—but the supposedly missing page is already in it. After that, I had no idea what else to do: the UI wouldn’t let me leave the library, and nothing else seemed to react. I hope the “Prologue” in the title does indeed mean that this is just a demo, and that the full game will have a lot more polish and more interesting puzzles.

Tried playing it but seems to be bugs everywhere. Anything from audio resetting when going to options/settings, to things not functioning acc to instructions/walkthrough (i had to search for it). No explanation/tutorial that actually works. Basically i gave up. I like the graphics, but thats it. It gets a 2/5 from me due to nice graphics, but imo its not playable... ...yet...
Stories Adrift: Wake Prologue is the kind of game that immediately made me slow down and actually look at what was around me. I am given a book boat and a simple job at first, returning a single page from a book. That quickly turns into something much stranger as I start finding clues and trying to understand the world around me. I like the basic setup because it feels mysterious without throwing a huge amount of information at me right away. The point and click gameplay is fairly straightforward, with most of my time spent exploring, examining things and working out puzzles. I have to pay attention to small details because some of the clues are easy to miss if I am just clicking through everything. I liked that the puzzles are connected to the story rather than feeling like completely random obstacles. There is a detective feeling to some of them, where I have to actually think about what I have found and work out how the pieces fit together. The hand painted artwork is easily one of my favourite things about it. Everything has a really distinctive look, and the colourful environments make the world feel much more interesting than a basic point and click setting. There is also a strange mixture of ancient cultural influences and more mysterious ideas in the worldbuilding. I do not fully understand everything yet, but that actually made me more interested in seeing where the full game could take the setting. I also liked the more philosophical side of the story. There is clearly something bigger going on underneath the simple task I am given, and the game keeps hinting that the journey is also about discovering something about myself. It has a surreal feeling to it that reminded me of a strange dream at times. I think the influence of Jorge Luis Borges is pretty fitting because the game is clearly interested in ideas about stories, identity and reality rather than just giving me a straightforward adventure. The biggest problem is that this is a prologue and the current version is openly described as a concept demo. That means I am not getting a complete adventure here, and I can definitely feel that in places. Some parts feel like they are setting up ideas that I am not going to get answers to yet. The developers also warn that there can be bugs and incomplete features, so I went into it expecting some rough edges. I think the game has a strong foundation, but it is difficult to judge how well the bigger story will work until there is more of it. I also think the pacing could be a little better. There are moments where I was not completely sure what the game wanted me to investigate next, while other parts moved along quite quickly. The point and click style means I have to be patient, which is fine for me, but I would have liked slightly clearer feedback when I had discovered something important. Still, I would rather have a short prologue that leaves me curious than one that gives away everything before the main game even exists. Overall, I think Stories Adrift: Wake Prologue is a promising little adventure with a really nice visual style and a story that feels like it has bigger ideas behind it. The hand painted world is the main thing that caught my attention, but I also enjoyed the detective style puzzles and the strange atmosphere. It is definitely unfinished and I think that needs to be taken seriously when judging it, but as a free introduction I came away wanting to know more. If the full game can expand on these ideas while keeping the same atmosphere, I think there is a lot of potential here. Rating: 7/10
A "prologue" that throws you into the game without explaining who your character is, where they come from, or where they're (supposedly) going. Or -god forbid- explaining how the mechanics of the game work. You don't even get as much as a changing cursor when hovering over hotspots. Instead you have find out everything yourself by mindlessly clicking on everything. On top of that at least the audio settings are broken. It's not that they get reset when opening the settings. Moving the sliders never changes anything in the first place.
I tried to like this.. Bur first, the game is buggy as heck. You have to pixel-hunt to make thnmigs work (Not that anything is visible, you just have to find exactly the right spot) , Futhermore, the game gives no answers or context, the inventory can't be viewed, For some reason sometimes yuou can view something and sometimes not..I got as far as the scroll, which i cant open, and i gave up...
