[h2]It's One Of The Best[/h2] Damn. It’s really been a decade and a half since this game came out? One of the first games I ever picked up on Steam when I was first getting into video games. What a trip that was. Being invited into a world of new possibilities, transitioning from a console gamer to PC, I remember the original version fondly, the secrets that have shifted and changed with the Cave Story updates and remaster from the Switch port, etc. I’ve even run into so many RPG references in future video games that came after it, only to realize they were references after coming back. It’s so wild how influential this game was, revolutionizing the classic genre and tropes of video games so confidently and in such a short, multi-branching story. The remaster added a ton of new content, multiplayer, and so on, though I mostly sat here playing through the main game, with no real interest in messing around with bonus features. I was just happy to revisit this masterpiece and its revamped soundtrack and mods. [h2]Issue[/h2] The only real issue I noticed was the final bosses. I don’t recall them being this devastatingly annoying to deal with, no save states, just 3-4 boss fights back to back with no heal replenishing, etc. Not really a skill issue, just a pattern memorization, though it may bother others equally when you just wanna play the game and just experience it, you know? [h2]Conclusion[/h2] Overall, I am pleased to have played through Cave Story once again. It’s one of those classics that ages well, making you feel as if it were only yesterday that you sat down to play it for the first time, being blown away by the story, characters, and progression.
