I've purchased this game for Oculus Rift, Steam, and PSVR. The game itself is pretty great. The environments, the masks... The board... all great. Pretty flawless. The biggest issue I've run into has to do with the fact that I bought three licenses expecting to be able to easily connect cross-platform to play with family members. This is not the case. Sure, If I had three Oculus rifts, or three psvrs or three, oculus quests connected to Oculus link (how I use it on steam) I would get a list of who is online in that platform, but unless they've done a new update that I haven't seen yet you can't yet see or choose to connect to specific people on other platforms. The connection to other players cross-platform is timing based and random so you might get paired with your friends/family members or some hodgepodge of other folks. There are some great discord etc communities that try to mitigate this issue by setting up matches, via timing which is helpful for some, but in my situation since the cross-platform pairing is random I don't want to keep trying to match with people and quit games where I'm accidentally paired with the wrong people, thus frustrating the people I match with... Further the discord groups will blacklist you if you pop in and out of games on people :( What I'm hoping for is that the Devs institute either some sort of cross-platform lobby that allows you to to connect to specific users on other platforms as well in your games or to institute a cross-platform friends/ cross-friends so you can see the specific people/accounts on other platforms you want to game with. Until that happens (don't know if it will) I'll have bought 2 licenses for essentially no purpose :( As it is I'll say yes buy it if you just want to play catan in VR but if you want it for my specific purposes it's kind of a bummer. If this situation is remedied I would anticipate buying a few more licenses in the future for friends in other states who use htc vive etc.
expected to enjoy this game since the game is fun irl but didn't find myself enjoying it... i bought it at 50% off but to be honest it should be free since you can't even roll the dice yourself, you just click a button. it feels very lacking in functionality compared to other VR games.
Ok lets be real here. If you already know how to play Catan, what do you expect me to say? Needs balancing? It's Catan. With AI opponents or Online Multiplayer. In VR. If you don't know how to play the board game I highly recommend you look up a video (There are a ton) on how to play the game, and watch a group play a game or two to figure out if this is for you. In my opinion the game is not for everyone. It can be slow at times but it is meant to be. A true grab a drink and chill while yelling about dice rolls and peoples lack of trading what you need because you forgot to place a settlement near ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sheep. I only play with AI because I don't have friends who play or even like Catan. I own the board in real life but my family refuses to play with me, so I play this sad and alone. Even the AI refuses to trade with me when I need it most... Truly one of my favorite VR experiences so far. Good reminder of what fun times I COULD have with friends and family! 8/10
This is actually a promising game, but AI needs fixing. Not sure what algorithms they're using, but when I'm losing, and have one card in my hand, and the robber comes up and they steal my card, they aren't relying on strategy. When, no matter what the conditions in terms of card distribution and victory points, the AI players steal my card 5 out of 6 times, the game just becomes a boring exercise in watching the AI build stuff while I don't even have a card to trade. You already have my money, but this is a game I won't play until it gets fixed, and I certainly wouldn't recommend anybody else spend their money on it, unless they're planning on playing strictly against humans. Too bad. I love Catan, and love this concept. Fix the AI and you'll have something.
It is catan but in vr for when you dont have any friends that play with you :P the expension packs would be a nice addition as dlc's
Great to play with other people, Do not Play With the AI. They only trade between each other and will ignore you. Unless you have a second person to trade with.
I haven't really played much as of this review and I'm sure the game is not perfect, but I have to say, the vr implementation of this game is absolutely beautiful and just spot on. Vr controls are almost perfect. Would love to see more board games ported to vr like this. Played with Oculus Quest 2.

Great game, but small community so finding real people is hard.
