Hidden arcade-style gem. Super artsy and goofy and enjoyable. Only one complaint: its SUPER short. 3 levels. thats it. i refunded the game for this reason, even after buying it on sale. i LOVE you Cat Girl Without Salad, but you NEED more content. i PROMISE i'd pay the cost of a full price, Triple-A game for this game if there was just - more weapons (or maybe power ups?? idk) and - more levels to play The artsy-goofiness of this game is UNMATCHED, I just REALLY wish they did more with it.

I really wanted to enjoy this. and kinda wish I could give a side review. Pros. Wayforward, top notch voice acting and art direction. It's a cute game it has a good concept in there somewhere. Cons Almost unplayable. in short just about every weapon is garbage and if you pick up the wrong one you may be stuck with it for a while not really being able to do much of anything. Poorly defined hitboxes for different weapons. getting locked in animations the base weapon is the best thing the game has and it's garbage. Every boss feels like a bullet sponge. I really wanted to enjoy this. I play a lot of shmups and am a long time fan of the Shantae series. Todd Haberkorn's voice acting makes me want to take my headphones off. I said the voice acting was good I didn't say I could stand it.
When I first played this game, it was included as part of my Humble Monthly Bundle as DRM ( if memory serves correctly ) Aside from the WayForward intro sequence upon loading the game ( which is a delight in perfection in and of itself ), this short space escapade is legendary, and has secured its place as one of my favorite games to have ever played. I love this game a great deal, and I was absolutely delighted when I received an email one day about a physical release in a collector's bundle. I was extraordinarily excited, and I was ready to shove my money at WayForward faster than you can say "the funny numbers on the back of the card". However, much to my dismay, I had first heard of this collector's bundle merely days after the window to purchase it concluded. I was, to put it lightly, devastated beyond belief. I had thoroughly enjoyed this game start to finish several times, streamed it a multitude of times to confused Twitch viewers, but I never loved this game any less. I always endeavor to spend money on the software I enjoy, and having a way to support WayForward after receiving free DRM that I was simply enamored by... Well, my day has come. April 1st, 2025, the best arcade shooter to ever exist on PC has been given a price tag, and I can tell you, I bought this game the very same few minutes after seeing it on the Steam Page. WayForward, I am still heartbroken that I missed the window to purchase your collector's box for Catgirl Without Salad, but this is a close second. Thank you for the opportunity to support you once again, and may the opportunity arise once more in the future, mayhaps, to reward excellent game-making skills.
♥♥♥♥! THIS! GAME!!! This game is too loud and I shouda read the reviews... I like Wayforward BUT WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥ I AMOST WENT DEAF.... SO ♥♥♥♥ THIS GAME *-
It's fun and decent I guess, but very overpriced
Even 50% off really isn't enough imo. If you aren't aware, it used to be a free Humble Bundle exclusive. I'm pretty sure it was on the Humble Trove from like 2017 until 2019. I'd wanted to play it ever since but was really stupid to delete it at one point. So I was excited to see it on Steam. Judging by the lack of Steam DRM or any resolution/binding options at all, I'm pretty sure this is the exact same version that was offered on Humble. Which I mean, was fine when it was a free game. But now they're legit charging $10 CAD for this. I kinda remember why I gave up on the game years ago. The amount of phases bosses have can feel overwhelming. That is, until you realize they're actually pretty easy and the game gives a few retries. With full health, even the final boss is a pushover. You can blast a chunk of one of the phases with one of the weapon cartridges. Even if you get hit and make some mistake, the pattern is pretty easy to get the hang of on a second try. The actual difficulty and frustration for me mostly was from the actual levels. There's so much stuff on the screen and especially on level 3, the stupid plop enemies are the worst design. I somehow forgot that Kebako's hitbox is the bow on her. So I'd keep trying to dodge everything, then wonder why some stuff always phases through me. But then other times you can barely see the projectile that hits the bow. I love the humor and visuals so much, it's really weird and unique. It's too bad they didn't put more budget in, they could've gone so far with these ideas. Currently, this is more like a demo of what could've been. TLDR: a really meh game, was also meh when it was free
This was an april fools joke in 2025 And it goes hard. get it on a sale for a hour of stupid fun.
