Finest April Fools joke I've had the delight of playing.
I had a copy of this on Humble Bundle, but then nuked the Humble library system and taking my copy with it after I deleted it off my hard drive. From the creators of Shantae comes a smol silly gimmicky shoot-em-up based off an April Fools joke that I guess fans wanted to be turned into an actual playable product, so they did that. Weapon powerups are based on other game genres and references, dialogue is goofy and silly from beginning to end. Not much to say because smol game. Literally, I think there's only 3 levels of this thing. The Humble Bundle version was free, I got the Steam version during a sale and recommend you do the same should you have any desire whatsoever to touch this.
Cool for a short game

I really wanted to enjoy this. and kinda wish I could give a side review. Pros. Wayforward, top notch voice acting and art direction. It's a cute game it has a good concept in there somewhere. Cons Almost unplayable. in short just about every weapon is garbage and if you pick up the wrong one you may be stuck with it for a while not really being able to do much of anything. Poorly defined hitboxes for different weapons. getting locked in animations the base weapon is the best thing the game has and it's garbage. Every boss feels like a bullet sponge. I really wanted to enjoy this. I play a lot of shmups and am a long time fan of the Shantae series. Todd Haberkorn's voice acting makes me want to take my headphones off. I said the voice acting was good I didn't say I could stand it.
I am a fan of WayForward's games, but it still stings how Lythero of all people exposed me to this game (if you are wondering what I mean, check Twitter)—as a "Curatorial Game Collector" myself. Either way, it is surprisingly charming and filled with life for a game that is short and obscure. And I experienced the funny moment as early as Level 2 where shooting mindlessly
takes away your health upgrade and you have to play again to get it.
I actually did a decent job at going through each levels (barely). I mean, I died once at Level 2 or 3, but still. Also, I am going to assume that the sequel where Cat Girl goes to jail has no ending. I watched only one person that actually recorded gameplay, and they seem just as confused as I am.
