Boring buggy game, I collected everything needed on the map but completing the level did not count.
This is a wonderfully charming little game that plays similarly to Super Mario 64, albeit, more floaty in its controls. My daughter really enjoys exploring this game and has a ball climbing trees, rolling everywhere and wearing the various costumes. It's simple enough for kids and a nice relaxing, casual time for us adults looking for a change of pace. I can't recommend this game enough.
FOUND THE KINDEST GIRAFFE IN THE WORLD
Castle on the Coast is one of those games where you get super sweet and relaxing content for next to nothing on sale, with no hidden tricks. This is a classic 3D platformer in a family-friendly style, with really cartoonish graphics and a fairytale vibe. You play as a toy giraffe named George, who can’t talk but hilariously shakes his head and makes rustling bell sounds. The story has you trying to reach two wizards who locked themselves up on an island and left orphaned kids unattended. The story is presented through a really weird localization: the translation is obviously not “Promt-like” but intentionally clumsy for cuteness. The text is full of childish mistakes like “USHO EDIN” instead of “ANOTHER ONE” or “kyuchi” instead of “little key.” It comes off as a harmless joke that just highlights the overall naivety of the project. As for the gameplay, there’s a lot of platforming, and it’s done well. Unlike something like Crash Bandicoot, the movement here is solid: the giraffe can curl into a ball, drag objects, jump, and even fly using special items – even someone with clumsy hands can manage the parkour here. There's almost no violence in the game. You can swim underwater, break boxes, and collect flower petals — these are the in-game currency for buying different skins. The main goal in the story is also just about finding three types of shiny symbols that unlock paths to new locations and move the story forward. Sometimes tin guards or some animals attack (not counting the main villains), but dying from them is hard — more often you fail because you just fell off a cliff or got distracted. Of course, it’s a low-budget project, so don’t expect huge scale or every little detail to be perfect. The world isn’t very big, and finishing it completely will take around three to four hours. But as a stress-free game, Castle on the Coast is perfect for all ages. You just need to take it easy, and then this cute little adventure will definitely leave a nice aftertaste.
Twitch(Main/Sub)/X(Twitter)/SteamCurator
Highly enjoyable, just like a playable child's story book. Our boy controls like a bouncy floaty ball. Just the act of jumping and exploring the world is fun. The sounds, music, all work together with the simple bright and colorful levels.
Why is no one talking about this game!?!? Movement is buttery smooth, controls like a dream. It’s like acid trip mario. Just get it 9/10 my review scale : anything below 5/10 is bad - 6 /10 = fine - 7/10 = good - 8/10 = exactly what it's trying to be - 9/10 excellent - 10/10 perfect - 11/10 they went above and beyond - 12/10 keeps finding new levels of incredible -13/10 revolutionary stuff
Very fun! Hits the spot for 3D Platformer Colectathon. Definitely one for the collection. If you like Paperklay, New Super Lucky's Tale or similar games in this genre then it is well worth it.
very underrated platformer, deserves more sales, props to the dev. the good: -cool leveldesign, especially the ball and car level. -good music -jetpack -sometimes driving vehicles. -fun achievements involving climbing and going exploring out of boundaries through disabling invisible walls in settings. -im already more than half through the game and i can already say the platforming is fun, the collecting is fun. reminds me of super mario sunshine + crash bandicoot. the bad: -maybe my brain is assuming wrong but i dont notice any transition, maybe its just one big level with different areas. cause the gps is pointing me in weird directions for stuff. -boring lore and characters still despite the bad, this game gives me nostalgia vibes and is a very fun to play platformer.
Floaty handling. Can pretty much climb anywhere with wall-kicks, so this is a pretty laidback & relaxed platformer. Cute game with fun personality. More to it than I anticipated. Unfortunately I found a rather game-breaking bug that killed my momentum. I left a boss arena without picking up the major key item (because I was not done exploring the immediate area), and the key item despawned with no apparent way to get it back so I seem to have soft-locked my save file. lmao
really wish I could buy this game's soundtrack
