完美的怪物会伪装成人类。
Really makes you feel like Batman
当怪物的视角挺有意思的,不过不要以为你要大杀四方,这本质是解密策略类游戏,后面玩的我心烦
I'm really glad I played this, I'd say it is a solid $10 game and I know I got it for like $2 on sale or something. This is one of the times where you see something like "indie game where you are a parasite/thing - puzzle solver - 2D" and your eyes almost roll. But behold for there is hope and it actually does deliver the premise. I have come to expect that description to yield something very vaguely attached to the premise in only the most surface level ways which is usually carrying any sense of setting. In Carrion though, we have a genuinely interesting puzzle solver which I found to be unique. It just strays gently on the edge of being a little obtuse to understand while standing firmly in the gently challenging without quite seeming totally patronizing all the time to give you an old school gaming feel in a way that I can only compare to stolen valor in the best way possible. The game makes you feel smarter and cooler than you actually are. The mood and feel perfectly reflect the character and setting. Another game might take place in the same setting. I doubt that game will include the ability to slither through the vents in such a masterfully effortless way that still rewards some skill. Nor do I expect that game to allow you to terrorize humans as a tentactled blob-monster who can choose how quickly he kills and by what method. Spine-snapping slam or slow drag into a chomping mouth - foot first. The game is devilishly satisfying in ways that never bored me despite lack of true variety or significant challenge. For once, you really do feel like batman or in this case it is an escaping parasite/thing and, the design is really smart with me blushing and looking at the game like "oh dev... I see you darling". Or the occasional, "Thank merciful gods that the game wasn't trying to prove some difficulty point and just gave me another [x resource] here". Killer game that I could use a lot more of. My biggest critique is that when I finally felt like I was excited to go backtrack or explore many new levels and puzzles with my just now comfortable abilities, I felt a bit rug-pulled by the ending and especially the final upgrade which was narratively brilliant but mechanically dissatisfying. Then again you always want more of a good thing and a dozen more forced levels could have been a big turn off. It's a shame there isn't a level editor with some push to social influencers to beat "impossible" challenges. I would also have liked to see an "N game" style list that stretches to near infinity of various challenge runs which are usually themed and oscillating in difficulty.
Everything except going around the map is fun. Lack of a map is annoying as ♥♥♥♥ and the fact that you have basically no guidance to go off is insane, you have to wander areas you've been to before - which there are a lot of. They couldve mitigated this by making the roar ability actually do something but it usually does more harm than good. The rest of the game is cinema
