Coming from a WitP:AE background I was hesitant to jump in, as the depth of the game seemed to be a bit shallower, but in the end it was a very positive disappointment. Not only is it not shallow it offers a lot of tactical choices and is a fairly good representation of carrier action and early scenarios of the Pacific war in general (haven't got the DLCs just yet). Also the game offers a lot of guides o it's not too difficult to grasp the mechanism and gameplay. I've played through the Santa Cruz scenario in about 2-3 hours, so it is just the right amount if you don't want to go the whole distance and play a WitP like full grand scenario. If you want a good, fast paced tactical carrier warfare game look no further. To offer some constructive criticism the damage to ships both from airstrikes and surface battles are a bit on the too random side, especially japanese DDs like/tend explode pretty often from their torpedo batteries getting hit. Also I think aircraft sub types would be nice to have (this is just maybe as a future improvement).
I love it! Streamlined, easy to play, tense with lots of suspense. Great wargame! Very well-designed scenarios covering key air and naval operations from the Pacific theater. I would love to see the full Operation Cartwheel campaign from Guadalcanal in the summer of 1942 to the capture of the Admiralty Islands in the spring of 1944, which finally sealed Rabaul's fate. Maybe the scope is too large for this game, but the complete Solomon Island campaign, covering the island hopping from Guadalcanal to New Georgia to Vella Lavella, to Bougainville, and finally to the Admiralty Islands, and all its associated naval and air operations, would be a perfect capstone. Although I recognize that it may be too big for the focus of this game, that would be my dream scenario. :)
nice game
I like it.
The first thing I noticed is that this game is not playable without an internet connetion. There should be a big banner across the store page warning potential buyers about this kind of business practice. All your saves are on the cloud and not on your computer. Your abiility to play is dependant on someone elses computer. The second thing I noticed is that the game is built on unity engine.
This is fantastic, especially multi player vs a human!
As a wargame set in the Pacific theater of World War II, it surprisingly features solid game mechanics and well-crafted scenarios. Although there are still issues with some stats and mechanics (for example, the Japanese Ki-100 fighter is given a higher air combat rating than the F6F Hellcat, which is absurd), I believe it is already one of the best products of its kind on the steam.
You cannot advertise multiplayer, when multiplayer is this utterly broken. I mean the interface doesnt even make the slightest sense. I lack words..
Boa simulação das Batalhas navais do Pacífico. Falta um editor e uma campanha. 8/10
