Carrie's Order Up!

It's fun! Really fun, actually. It has the cheesiness and characteristics of an old arcade game, but modernized just enough for today! The gameplay seems daunting, but once you get into the mix of things, it's actually not that bad. Doesn't get stale with constant map changes. Great for a quick fix if you're into Diner Dash type games. Most importantly though: it passes the "I want to eat the food in this game" check.

Don't let the graphical diner theme fool you, the mechanics are absolutely great! For some reason it reminds me of that old-school arcade game Tapper, but this game is much more robust with deeper mechanics. It's quick and you have to think fast! This game oozes old-school quarter muncher. I like the mechanics the most in the Endless Mode which I think is the "true" way to play, but they also give you a nice little "campaign" to play which is a bunch of levels in bite-sized portions, 20 in total. You can quick-restart at the highest level you died at up to a maximum of level 15. If you want to win you'll have to get good enough to beat the five end levels in one streak. I'm liking this game and slowly discovering play strategies as I get familiar with it. I feel like there's a lot of room for player creativity. It also had good graphics, nice sound design, good music, excellent menu UI. No complaints at all, a super well-made and tight game from a design standpoint. Now that I've had so much fun already, I feel guilty for only paying 66% off ($1.11 CAD) because from the minute I started playing I was hooked for an hour and a half straight. I'm sure I'll get many more hours out of it. Perhaps not infinite replay-ability but for the asking price there's loads of fun as far as I can see. My only minor gripe is that I had to turn on the "anti-deadzone" feature for the Thumb Stick on my Steam Controller. Seems the default dead-zone is far too mushy for a game that needs tight cornering. Keep this in mind, not sure if it applies to all controllers used through Steam.
