Carpe Lucem challenges and entertains players by transferring classical 2D puzzles into the virtual space. It creates a whole new way of interacting and playing mind teasing puzzle games and it made nobody sick in hundreds of demos at trade shows. VR equipment such as HTC Vive or Oculus required.

This game looks it might be nice but WARNING --- As of this review (1/14/2018) this game does NOT work with the Oculus touch controllers. (Several people have indicated they have the same problem in the community hub) Since that's what I have, I can't play the game, and so I am giving it a "not recomended" I would like to point out that the game SAYS it works with motion tracked controller, but aparently not all of them. Hopefully they will get this fixed, and I will be able to change my review.
This is a great VR puzzle game It not hard to manage and understand, it starts pretty easy but guess again a little later https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMb-h0CQ5PE
Echoing what others have said about Oculus. Touch controllers don't work and it doesn't appear that the developers are working on it. I don't recommend this for OCULUS ONLY. Having played on the Vive, I found it to be enjoyable.
The XBOX controller doesnt work with Oculus for me and others. Look at forum. The dev doesn't respond to problems much. Still can't play and horrible support.
Ein schönes VR Puzzle-Spielchen für Zwischendurch. Keine Motion Sickness und daher für VR Anfänger gedacht. Rätsel werden durchaus anspruchsvoll mit der Zeit! Grafisch gut gelungen.
Nice and polished puzzle game, screenshots really doesn't give justice to this production, it's way better than it seems in VR. Environment, music and the gameplay itself are relaxing and in some way mystic, with a sort of magic forest with flying glass animals: where many puzzle games trend to drive the player crazy, Carpe Lucem is a sort of meditation app with some puzzles inside. The single player doens't seems very long or very hard, but the game offer also an editor. Could be a good game to introduce VR to those not interested in action and stressful situations, and in general for puzzle lover. EDIT: finished the game, could not be very long but the last level take me a good amount of time. Very nice puzzle.
This game shows how great puzzle games can be in VR. I played it with a Vive. It has a really pleasing, calm environment and I like this kind of aesthetic. The mechanics are based on some classic concepts but feel fresh through the presentation. The elements are wrapped around your position and a part of the fun is getting it all together while seeing only a portion of it. For example fiddling with a Mirror behind your back while looking to the other side where it should land is a really new gaming experience and helps rooting your presence in the virtual world. The difficulty is moderate with a steady progression and new elements every handful of levels. The length of the game depends on your puzzle solution capabilities but I was through after about 1.5 hours. This is on par with most of the other VR Titles out there and really keeps me longing for more content so I loved seeing that an editor (a first draft of it) is included. It's a little bit crude but not as bad as the ingame warning make it sound like. I got the hang of it after about 5-10 minutes. I can't wait for the day that you can put your levels online and get some from other people. This is teased inside of the game and I hope it will materialize soon. Also this will give you more bang for your buck but I got my money's worth even as it is right now. So to conclude, if you have a knack for puzzle games and have a Vive, get this!
Check out the full review @ https://vivereport.com/2016/09/27/carpe-lucem-vr-a-steam-punk-puzzle-paradise/ " This game is sensory heaven – the visuals and the music just melt into each other like butter on fresh toast." Your goal is to manipulate different colors of light that flow from suspended vials. You have to direct the stream toward mechanical flowers of the same color. Tools consist of mirrors, separators, converters and mixers, which all look straight out of a mad scientist’s lab from the Industrial Revolution — brass cogs, gears, coils. You get the idea. Once all color streams are matched to flowers, you move on to the next puzzle. What’s great is that the light spectrum combinations are actually spot-on.
I like this VR-Puzzle a lot!! You should check it out, too! First time I actually tried this VR-Puzzle was on 'A MAZE 2016' in Berlin. Now I have an own copy. I have seen a few VR projects now and I have got to say: among those, Carpe Lucem is one of the best. (my personal opinion, obviously) Why? 3 reasons: 1) Carpe Lucem is an interactive thing. There are a number of VR projects which are pure VR-experiences. Scenes you can watch and thereby admire the VR-space. They do it very well within the scope they have. Carpe Lucem does also, AND it is an interactive puzzle utilizing controllers and movable objects. 2) Carpe Lucem concentrates on the elements VR is (currently) best at and wisely misses out on mechanics which are more problematic than really cool. What do I mean? The Puzzle concentrates on visuals. The environment is nice. The feel of space is good. The objects in the Puzzle are nice to look at (even with custom controller models worth admiring before even starting to puzzle). And Carpe Lucem does not even try introducing player locomotion, knowing that this is what makes most users uncomfortable, and more often a problem than a cool feature. 3) The Puzzle actually makes very good use of the space and spacial awareness VR is meant to create. So the puzzles happen in 3D space (obviously, duuh?!?...). Positioning objects, aligning them towards each other, twisting, turning, shifting them. Carpe Lucem feels so natural and precise with all this (excepting 'game mechanical limitations' here, like non-rotationable puzzle-parts), just the way a proper VR-experience should. I like it a lot! From my side: 8 out of 10 check it out! cheers!
