CARnage

Have you ever zoned out in the middle of class and sketched out an idea for a video game on a piece of notebook paper? I have to imagine that half the game design ideas that kids ever came up with were something a lot like this. It's a toxic wasteland and there's cars, you race against other cars, and everyone can pickup different guns and other powerups. You can upgrade your car in various ways in the garage in-between rounds. Some of your opponents are a mutant gorgon looking chick in a bikini, and a murderous redneck with a spiked baseball bat, and a similarly murderous fisherman who wants to hook you. If you run over the toxic waste, your car sizzles. I think I'll call it... CARnage! And look at the time fly, only 10 minutes until the bell rings. CARnage looks and plays like it came straight out of the blood & guts era of the Genesis and Amiga, like Ivan Stewart's Off Road meets Toxic Crusaders. Controls very well with controller or keyboard, lots of races, alternate routes, multiple championship cup series, a steal at $3 on sale.

Classic top down 2D Death Rally style car combat racer, i like the post apocalyptic artstyle and crunchy pixel art. My only criticism is the slow down for veering off track is a bit too strong and some of the respawning mechanics could use a bit of tuning.

This masterpiece should have been Game of the Year, not Astro Bot. (All positive reviews will get a nudie-calendar too, but that's beside the point)

Great game for both solo and split-screen fun in the wastelands. Has difficulty levels for both the more experienced and for the (me) not so experienced 2D racing drivers. Replayability factor is high due to all the alternative routes on the maps, different difficulties and best of all - the different cars with their mods and upgrades. All and all a fun little game!

This game brings back memories from back in the days when computer where computers hehe realy fun game to have on the desktop and play.A game for all ages

Grüße! Wir haben das Spiel über die Seite Keymailer vom Entwickler bekommen^^ Es macht eigentlich genau, das was es soll..Es ist ein Oldschool Racer mit Fahrzeugen, die auch Ballern können.. Uns Persönlich hat es sehr Stark an ( Rock'n Roll Racing ) erinnert, dass es auf dem SNES gab... Die Rennen die wir gefahren sind, waren uns noch etwas zu einfach da die KI Gegner sich oft so schnell aus dem Rennen genommen haben das oft nur noch unser Wagen überhaupt in der Lage war das Rennen zu beenden^^ Der Stil des Games ist auch genau das, was man von einem Spiel von damals erwartet^^ Als Fazit können, wir sagen, dass es uns Spaß gemacht hat, aber uns war die KI etwas zu dümmlich und gerade am Anfang fehlt uns die Abwechslung bei den Strecken die Leider sich zu oft ähneln^^. Czy zastanawialiście się kiedyś co wyszło by z połączenie MICRO MACHINES i DEATH RALLY? Bardzo możliwe że byłoby to CARnage! Serio. Byłem miłośnikiem oby dwóch i szczęśliwe tutaj znalazłem to czego żadne produkcję AAA nie miały. Ale dobra, dość tych zachwytów i przejdźmy do konkretów. Mamy tu od groma tras. Są 3 biomy, na każdy z nich przypada 15 tras. Zabójcze zakręty, przyspieszenia, dziury w moście, gruntowe trasy, trasy po wodzie i lodzie i nie wiem co jeszcze bo może w połowie dopiero jestem. Samochodziki są różne. Nie które szybkie, zręczne, a inne cięższe idealne pod trasy w których jest mniej asfaltu. Każdy z pojazdów ulepszamy w 5ciu kategoriach. A gdyby tego było mało, mamy 3 dodatkowe sloty na ulepszenia które dostajemy z wygranych rajdów. Jest to to co było fajne w DR. Nie musimy każdego nowego kupować od razu, możemy sobie swojego początkowego ulepszać, choć z czasem i tak lepiej kupić coś nowego, ale samo to że nie jesteśmy zmuszeni do progresu jest fajne. Minus jest tu taki, że nie widzimy statystyk nowych pojazdów przed kupieniem, choć szczęśliwie ich ceny nie są zawrotne, więc nie ma tu żmudnego grindu... chyba w zasadzie w ogóle go niema. Po przejściu każdego biomu, mamy dostęp do turnieju, z którego możemy jakiś unikatowy wóz zgarnąć. Na koniec to co najważniejsze - rozwałka. Po trasie mamy rozłożone bonusy, którymi anihilujemy wrogów, lub oni nas. Widać świetnie zniszczenia aut, więc wiemy czy musimy bardziej uważać, czy też na gościa z przodu potrzeba tylko jednej kulki. Z arsenału (jak na razie) widziałem plamy oleju, broń ręczną, przeciw pancerną, miotacz ognia, turbo, granatnik, wyrzutnię rakiet. Co jeszcze jest fajne? Wraki zostają na trasie, tworząc dodatkowe przeszkody. Nasz respawn trwa zaledwie około 3 sekund i jest to wystarczający czas by jeszcze dołączyć do pościgu i sprężać się bardziej. Oprawa audio i wizualna jest dość przyjemna. Muzyka nie wkurza, dodaje klimaciku, pixelart jest bardzo sympatyczny. PS. Jest dostępne demo, więc jeszcze za to podziękowanie Twórcy się należy. Podsumowując: CARnage to ukryty klejnot, który zasługuje na odnalezienie i cieszenie się nim.

It was the best racer of 2024. Death Rally Classic is the only racing game that I think does this better. Tons of cars, great tracks, great music and art. Just a whole heap of fun.
