I love the style of this. Feels incredibly retro both in visuals and sound. Only drawback is I have a really hard time playing it do to the controls "reversing" when the car drives downwward, ending many 1st places because I turn into a block of concret XD

Super Power Racing is a surprisingly addictive little top down arcade racer that nails the feel of classic 90s overhead racing games while still feeling modern enough to stand on its own. At first glance, it looks like a simple retro throwback, but once you spend some time with it, the depth starts to show. The handling takes a bit of adjustment if you’re used to modern 3D racers, but once it clicks, it feels tight, responsive, and genuinely satisfying. Learning how to micro-drift through corners and keep momentum is a big part of the fun. Visually, the game looks great. The tracks are colorful, readable, and well designed, and each vehicle has its own personality. The different modes add nice variety, especially Power Race and Timebomb mode, which inject real tension and chaos into the races. Weapons feel impactful without being overly punishing, keeping races fun rather than frustrating. As well as this, the first part of the campaign has just released in the game today, which also adds some more variety - each mission gives you a preset car, meaning you have to adapt to the handling of a different car, rather than just sticking with your favourite, which in my opinion, is pretty cool! One of the biggest standouts for me is the soundtrack, it’s energetic, catchy, and perfectly matches the arcade vibe, elevating the entire experience. That said, this is Early Access. Content is currently limited, there’s no multiplayer yet. But the foundation here is strong, and the game already feels polished where it matters most: controls, presentation, and pure fun. If you enjoy retro arcade racers like Micro Machines or Super Sprint or you’re just looking for something fast, chaotic, and charming then Super Power Racing is absolutely worth checking out, especially if you’re excited to see it grow during Early Access.

A fun game to pick up, even if you have a small amount of time to spare. The standard Race mode can get intense, as some opponents give you a run for your money, depending on the difficulty set. Power mode is like the regular Race mode, but now you and the opponents can fire missiles and bombs at each other. It gets chaotic really quickly and turns into an intense survival mode. Timebomb can get challenging on some tracks. You try to hit as many checkpoints before time timer hits 0 and your car blows up. Some tracks are easy or a nice challenge, but there are some tracks where you will need to get a good grasp of drift-boosting to Gold the event. The very last track was difficult, as you needed constant drift-boosting to barely clear the event. It was satisfying to clear the final event. I did find some silly bugs that are planned to get patched out, such as: - On Rookie difficulty, there was one instance where there was an opponent that was so quick, they lapped the field. After some time, the opponent went back to their intended difficulty. I haven't been able to replicate this, though. - Missing sounds (engine, announcer) - Pausing the game stops everyone (which is normal). However, when you unpause it, you maintain your speed, but all of the opponents lose most or even all of their speed... Making it easy to cheese the race... Unless if you are me and hit the "Restart" button while trying to cheese the race. - Similar to above, it is possible to move forward while Paused if you pause it at the exact time mid-jump. Still had fun playing this game. Looking forward to see where the dev takes this game.

This game has a lot of potential! Reminiscent of classic top-down racing games mixed with a bit of car combat and other silly little events. At the time of review the amount of content is a little limited, but there are plans for a lot more down the line.

I was gifted this game by the dev to test/stream and I loved the game. We found some bugs but a new update is coming out tonight. I really liked the map night. There will be a driving school added to help people learn the mechanics of driving better... which I know I need, but once I got comfy with drifting I got way better in the game! I can't wait to unlock more cars and improve my racing skills! Thank you!

finished tutorial and first two races. fast,fun music,works on steamdeck. i like that this isn't easy but i get better as i play. this is well worth the price

Fun, cute, colorful top down racer that loosely reminds me of RC Pro AM (NES). The Good: smooth gameplay, fun/upbeat music, three difficulty modes, lots to unlock. Time Bomb mode is quite the spin on your standard time attack mode 😆 The Meh: There's no menu or the like that explains controls. It's easy to figure out. Controlling the car--best via analog stick--takes a moment to get used to, but once you get it, it's easy. The Not So Good: some of the computer controlled opponents in Power Mode cheat worse than the original Super Mario Kart, which makes for spicy gameplay 😆 Overall, a fun racing experience. Definitely looking forward to the final version! Great work, man!!!

Super Power Racing is pure old-school joy from the moment you hit the start button. The pixel art is bursting with personality, the different tracks are really fun to play. I love the soundtrack which is catchy and just sticks in your head. It's a game that doesn't take itself seriously, highly recommend 🏎️
