Finally a card game with some fresh ideas. Each "class" of cards has its own style but doesn't limit you to that particular deck. A game where both players stack their deck seems odd at first, but it is paced out in a way that prevents unfairness and a sense of being powerless to combos. Even as the game is now in beta, the skeleton structure of the game had me hooked and kept me up well past my bedtime. I give it 10 10's out of 10.
The game is very fun - I love the creativity involved behind the gameplay and the cool designs of the different leaders. I find the removal of luck and focus on strategy by ordering your spellbook in advance very fresh and interesting in particular. I can't wait to get some more time to play a little more!
I will preface this with I got the game for free and am a friend of SpeedRobo, but I will do my best not to be biased. If you've ever stared at your deck and thought, "Now if I get these specific cards then draw into..." This game is for you. You build your deck, you know exactly what is coming and when it is coming. The only issue is your opponent has the same advantage removing the luck from the card game equation. This will have many interesting effects on the multiplayer meta, I am not sure if it will be good or bad, that will mostly be decided by the community and the developer. I have enjoyed the game so far, as well as the story mode. The card art that has been implemented is great. I would say though, if the first sentence of this paragraph doesn't strike a cord with you, it'd be best if you don't buy this game in early access. It is early access so I will just note some of the downsides in the current build that will hopefully be fixed. -not all cards have custom art, this makes it a bit difficult to know which card is which when you have them on your field. This of course, should be fixed with time. -The game interface is a bit clunky, trying to target the leader can be mildly difficult as the game wants to target the back row instead. -Playing the same deck can be mechanical and boring. New mechanics can and hopefully will fix this, multiplayer may fix this too. (multiplayer exists, I just haven't gotten that far.) -AI is garbage. Seriously. Only play it to see if your deck is garbage or not. If you lose to the AI something is wrong. Keep trying though, you can only go up from here!
