RECOMMENDED — 8/10 I genuinely think the negativity surrounding World Fighters has become excessive. The game absolutely has problems, and I understand why people who spent hundreds of hours creating characters in Rise of New Champions are disappointed. However, there’s a difference between criticizing those problems and declaring the game dead, a complete catastrophe, or the end of the entire series almost immediately after launch. World Fighters improves some things while taking noticeable steps backward in others. It isn’t the Rise of New Champions 2 that many people wanted, but I also don’t think it’s remotely the dumpster fire some reviews make it sound like. The game needs improvements NOT a funeral. THE GOOD The animations are absolutely gorgeous. Shots, blocks, dribbles, tackles, and Miracle Actions are incredibly flashy and expressive, especially for major characters such as Tsubasa and Hyuga. Sometimes the effects become so bright and chaotic that it’s difficult to tell what’s happening, but overall, this is one of the game’s greatest strengths. I’m also a big fan of directional goalkeeping. Instead of the goalkeeper feeling like a brick wall you repeatedly blast until it breaks, you must watch the shot and predict where it’s going. It makes goalkeeping considerably more engaging, although the reaction window can feel slightly too strict. I’ve had inputs register as “no input” when I could have sworn I picked a direction. The simpler controls are easy to understand without making matches boring. Super shots, tackles, dribbles, and blocks make important confrontations feel intense and interactive. The story missions are also fun, rewarding you for completing special requirements and giving matches an extra layer of challenge. I enjoyed the story, its alternate routes, and the text conversations with other characters. The routes could have been longer, but I still had fun with them. I also found the texting rather cute and similar to the casual banter I remember having with teammates and friends. It doesn’t completely replace proper bonding scenes, but I don’t think it’s as impersonal as some people claim. My limited experience with online play has mostly been stable. I’m not a highly competitive PvP player, but I’ve only encountered one particularly strange match where tackles seemed to come from nowhere. THE PROBLEMS Some super tackles are ridiculously fast and become especially obnoxious once players start spamming them during the second half. They can feel nearly impossible to counter with a correctly timed dribble. This desperately needs a balancing adjustment. Locking so many teams behind story progression was also a poor launch decision. Online matches quickly become repetitive when most players are using Brazil or Japan with a slightly different New Star attached. My largest complaints involve creativity and replayability. The unique move limit restricts how accurately you can build your character, apparently for the sake of balance. Rise of New Champions gave us far more freedom, while World Fighters forces several generic moves into your build. Only allowing one New Star is another enormous disappointment. I want to create friends, family members, and OC's! Not just one self-insert. Adding more character slots would help, although the story would still need greater build variety to keep those characters from feeling identical. The lack of proper dream teams is equally frustrating. Being restricted to national teams plus your New Star severely limits team creativity. Miracle Actions might make freely mixing characters more complicated, but that doesn’t mean dream teams should remain absent forever. Finally, story replayability is a legitimate problem. Other than completing unfinished missions, there isn’t much reason to replay old matches. I can completely understand why someone who primarily loved repeatedly playing New Hero mode would finish this story and feel as though the game had nothing left for them. FINAL THOUGHTS World Fighters is an 8/10 for me. It has spectacular animations, enjoyable gameplay, an engaging goalkeeper system, fun character moments, and a story I genuinely liked. Unfortunately, it is held back by restrictive balancing decisions, limited character creation, weak replayability, and missing team-building features. People are perfectly justified in criticizing those decisions or preferring Rise of New Champions. I just think some of the anger has become wildly disproportionate for a game this new. It hasn’t doomed Captain Tsubasa, murdered the franchise, or permanently destroyed its future. Hopefully, after a few balance patches and content updates, World Fighters can restore some of the freedom and replayability people are missing. There is a genuinely fun game here—it just needs the developers to stop “balancing” some of the fun out of it.

the story cutscene get annoying after a while beacause of how many there are not to mention how its a loading screen between them each time its kinda slow to basically its just worse than the first game. because why add a custom character if you can barely even effect much in the story just a disapointmeant in general for me Personally. and i cant refund it so beacuse i played 7 hours hoping i would find it more fun i did not may stil play it sometimes but the story just isnt as fun as the first game was for me
I would put this game as a recommended if they had the option to make multiple custom characters like in the first game, make custom teams like the first game, and had the option to make a tournament with custom teams like the first game. I preordered this game because I thought it would have everything I wanted, but it didn't (also for a 60 dollar game, the only modes you have are Story, Vs, Vs Online, Practice, Tutorial, and some Movies/History of characters) Please, if the creators are seeing this, please bring those back in a update, that's what brought most to almost all of us to this game, to be like or better than the first game, not just new moves and graphics. What we as a community are asking for doesn't seem that hard, it would bring more people to enjoy and change the rating from mixed (or whatever it is after I send this) to a positive
Aqui está a tradução direta para o inglês, ideal para postar em plataformas como a Steam: "I am enjoying the game, but I can't provide a full review right now since I haven't played enough yet. However, my negative review is due to the lack of PT-BR subtitles. Look, I'm someone who understands English well and can follow the story without any issues, but given the price tag and the circumstances, this is completely ridiculous. Part of the game's story takes place in Brazil, Brazil is important to the plot, there are Brazilian teams, the marketing was done in PT-BR, and the previous game featured PT-BR subtitles, but for some reason, this one does not. If they eventually add the subtitles, I will update my review, but for now, it stays this way."
A total disappointment, especially when compared with the first game.
