Almost feels like traveling back in time to the days of Xbox 360 and PS3. Slightly clunky controls, camera is sometimes your worst enemy, but straight to the point hack and slash combat. Executions are fun. Been streaming this game and have had a lot of fun with it!
I mean…I don’t know if it’s “good” but I do feel the need to recommend it anyway. I think the fact it was released is fantastic as it would be a shame for the hard work of the developers to go completely unnoticed regardless of the end result. But I also had genuine fun with it. There are a few sections that feel very padded and go on too long and I do think the enemies are a little too far on the spongy side. Through all the jank, dated level and gameplay desigjs, and frustrations, there is a charm to it. The art style holds up well and the gameplay has a satisfaction to it once you’ve unlocked some of the combos. It’s imperfect and probably not worth full price but it’s a fun pirate adventure to enjoy with a relatively short runtime that felt worth finishing.
old style game with quick time events ( never leave your controller in cutscenes) this is really fun but it needs more work on the following (gameplay Issues): 1- The healing system isn't very clear, some chests have heal and some boxes have heal, the game doesn't tell you this but you get health regain at very low HP and get back up to 15% HP. 2- unlocking skills and abilities takes a lot of gold and even if you try to save up every gold, you can not level up all the skills even when you finish the game, it's very hard. 3- the enemies come at huge waves and when there is range enemies, they are annoying, they have higher movement speed and they stun you easily when you get closer. 4- being stunned when you get attacked, there should be more window and better indication of attackes that can not be dodged. 5- the fighthing feels clinkly due to enemies being able to stun lock you and being able to corner you. 6- Ship section is very very tedious, it's fun yes but it's so annoying trying to balance between enemies, cannons, and being attacked and stunned ( it is not be able to breathe) Gameplay Suggestions: 1- Add skill that can be used to give you more health or make it easier to gain health by doing executions, that was it feels better than being bothered to always be at 15% HP. 2- make is easier to gain gold, the more abilities you can unlock faster the more fun the game gets, increase GOLD gain so players can unlock skills faster. 3- Enemies shouldn't be faster than the player and shouldn't be able to stun them for very long, you either remove the enemies stun mechanic or you give the player stun resistance after getting stun for 2S Max, it gets so annoyng and also unfair when enemies specially Ranged enemies stun you non stop. 4-Better indications for unblockable attacks ( add Red color to the enemies instead of Orange when they swing their weapons) you want to know when the enemy will do the unblockable attack, NOT during which animation is unblockable attack, you need to see it before it happens. 5-Like i said before, Please, do something about being sutnned non stop, this game is fun, i love this game, 6- Make the Ships stop shooting when the enemy ride the ship (it makes sense because they don't want to shoot their allies) this way the player can focus on fighting inside the ship, when they are done, they move back to shooting canoon, thus creating a balance and fun sailing gameplay. 7- Add Health regain Execution. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Audio Issues: 1- The game music and everything is WAY LOUDER than Voice acting, i can barely even hear the voice actors, it's impossible to know anything without subtitles. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Final Notes: This game is Fun, thank you for your hard work, it shows how much love you put into the game, i hope to see more of you <3, keep up the hard work and i hope this game only evolve to be better in the future.
Dark Souls . . . but good.
There are too many things that don't work well in Captain Blood, stuff that was bad in the gaming scene even back when this game was conceived. I'm talking about unbalanced enemies, ranged enemies that will dodge you even though you did hit them, lot of staggering on the receiving end while your enemies will barely stagger, insipid voice acting, bullets hitting you through walls, a few frustrating missions, illogical plot, quick-time events that feel unnecessary, unspoken dialogues during cutscenes, achievements randomly unlocking... Bosses are sponges, but at least they provide some variety, power ups feel useful only during mid-late stages of the game, levels are generally acceptable except a few ones where you are relentlessly bombarded by enemy ships and boarded by enemies while you (alone) have to sink your foes using cannons. Sounds intriguing, but it isn't. What stuns me, is that this game was left untouched for years, and when they had the chance to continue and finish it, the result is still underwhelming. Still, I praise the developers for hanging on for so long. While this game sounds tempting, it doesn't really have anything to offer, even the soundtrack seems to try to rip off Pirates of the Caribbean. Just avoid it, or take it at deep discount.
Graphics are surprisingly crisp and clear, but the low-poly models and objects are expected for an older game remake or remaster. The movement is awkward on Keyboard & Mouse, and even on a Controller. This is probably due to the game age... first attempt at 3D movement maybe? The story seems like it was written by a 13-14 year old teenager in study hall. The voice acting is pretty bad, I think voice AI (if was around when the game was made) could do a better job. Overall, I feel that I got screwed at $17 in my opinion.... ideally it is a $5-$10. game But it could play out well as a "rainy day" game. Oh, and here's a little rhyme to set the mood; Over the hill came Piss Pot Pete with 20 pounds of dangling meat :)
