You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/69w1zIlU0yM
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
I actually had fun playing this game. However, I cannot recommend it. There's just too many issues with the game. This game is basically the classic game Asteroids, that's been given a modern translation into VR and it's done pretty well, if only it worked as it should. You use your motion controllers to control the in-game Throttle and Flight stick controller. You get a behind the cockpit view of the game and you're basically shooting asteroids & getting Repair, Fuel, Magnet, or Coin pickups or avoiding the different colored black holes & asteroids that damage your ship. You do spend fuel as you travel so you definitely need to hunt for those asteroids for fuel. You destroy the colored crystals on the giant asteroids to destroy the asteroid and get the required pickups. It's fun when it works, but there are issues. The most noticeable issue is that you're kicked from the VR view of the game and back into Oculus Home each time the game starts up or you go to main menu or you restart the game. In fact, to even get into the game (after starting it), you have to open up your Oculus dash panel and click on the game on your dash panel with your Touch Controllers. Other issues include a bug where suddenly asteroids stop spawning with crystals so you have to manually quit the game and restart. Besides those issues, the gameplay itself is repetitive. I'm not sure it's worth the $3.99, even if it all worked perfectly, which it doesn't. I would say given the quality & quantity of content, it's more of a $1.99 game if everything worked as it should. However, due to all the bugs, I cannot recommend this game. Rate 4.5/10. Recommended only to those willing to put up with the above issues, in order to have some nostalgic fun in VR, because this game is fun when it works.
I was looking forward to playing this game, it launches no problem but then when it loads into the actual game the screen will fade from the cockpit view and put me back to Oculus home space as if that's the game being played, the application still runs in the background and when i click onto it to open again, it just brings me back to the home space. This may not be the case for everyone but please look into this as I would really like to experience this game myself.
