★ THIRD UPDATED REVIEW - MIXED - 6/10 ★ 05/09/2026 This is my third posted update after spending more time with Bus Simulator 27. Firstly, thank you to the developers. They have already responded to me twice, and I can see they are actively reading feedback and pushing updates. I genuinely appreciate it. My first two hours were honestly rough. The opening story felt very cheesy to me, the bugs were frustrating, and my first impression was around 4/10. You can skip the story, but I would still recommend playing through it once. After that, the game opens up and shows much more of what it offers. Without spoiling anything, the progression and management side has more depth and charm than I first realised. The UI and presentation are excellent. That is why my score moved from 4/10, to 5/10, and now to 6/10. If Steam had a proper MIXED option, that is what I would choose. The game has grown on me, and I can see myself eventually recommending it. This is pre-order advanced access, not a long traditional Early Access period. Full release is only days away, so some fundamental issues need attention quickly. ------------------------------ ★★★ FORCE FEEDBACK - PLEASE PRIORITISE THIS ★★★ My setup includes a MOZA R5, MOZA truck-style steering wheel, pedals and MOZA Multi-function Stalks. I have updated my MOZA software/firmware and recalibrated the wheel again. There is still practically NO meaningful force feedback. The only feedback I occasionally notice is a small vibration over things such as railway tracks. Otherwise I am not really feeling vehicle weight, steering resistance, road surface or what the front wheels are doing. This is not simply a calibration issue on my side. The bus can feel reasonably planted, but the overall driving still feels off and buggy, and the lack of proper force feedback contributes heavily to that. Please prioritise proper MOZA force feedback. My physical indicator stalk can also self-cancel while the indicator inside the game remains active. ------------------------------ ★★ SAT-NAV / ROUTE GUIDANCE - MAJOR ISSUE ★★ The sat-nav is too glitchy and unreliable. I can follow a custom route correctly, then suddenly it tells me to turn back on myself. A moment later it changes again and tells me to take another turn. These are fixed custom bus routes, not an Uber-style journey that should constantly change its mind. It has sent me the wrong way, caused unnecessary diversions and made me late to stops. Please test it thoroughly, especially after leaving bus stops, approaching junctions and following longer custom routes. For me, this can genuinely break an entire route. ------------------------------ ★★ FALSE PEDESTRIAN COLLISION / HEAVY FINES ★★ I have also encountered a serious collision bug. Passengers board, I close the doors, begin pulling away normally, and the game suddenly tells me I have hit somebody. There is nobody visibly in the road and I have not hit a pedestrian, yet I receive a very large in-game fine. This has happened several times after passengers have boarded. I have even force-closed the game because of it, only to find the progress sometimes already saved or be forced to repeat part of the route. Please investigate collision detection around bus stops, passengers and doors. ------------------------------ ★ SCORING / SPEED LIMIT DETECTION ★ I disabled negative scoring after the developers suggested it, and the game immediately became more enjoyable. Indicator detection still needs work, and speed-limit detection also appears inconsistent. I have had the game display a 50 km/h limit while I am driving at or around 50, yet still penalise me for speeding. If it says the limit is 50, I need to be able to trust it. ------------------------------ ★★ PASSENGER INTERACTIONS / WAITING TIMES ★★ I understand what the developers are trying to do. The longer waits give you time to leave the driver's seat, interact with passengers, build relationships, deal with things such as loud music and use the other systems in the game. There is charm in that idea, but it happens too often. Sometimes I just want to drive. I would love: Passenger Events: NORMAL / REDUCED / OFF Passengers blocking the doors is especially frustrating. Whether intentional or a pathfinding problem, it happens too often and can interrupt a route. The game could also explain more clearly when it expects you to leave the driver's seat and interact. The timetable balance also needs work. Sometimes I sit at stops for too long, while other times I feel unnecessarily rushed. Please give us more control over timetable strictness, waiting times and passenger-event frequency. ------------------------------ ★★ WORLD / GRAPHICS / SENSE OF PLACE ★★ The world is starting to show more charm as more areas open up, but it still does not feel fully believable to me yet. Graphics are not everything, but we spend hours looking through the windscreen, so the environment needs to be enjoyable to drive through. There are lovely touches already, especially the summer ambience, cricket sounds and night sky. The UI and menus are excellent: clean, attractive and easy to understand. I just want the driving world to reach that same level of polish. Please continue improving the lighting, colours, environmental detail and overall sense of place. ------------------------------ ★★ ORANGE STOPPING AREAS / CHARACTER OUTLINES ★★ Please give us an option to remove the huge glowing orange stopping and parking areas. They dominate the scene and make the game feel much more arcade-like. I want to naturally pull into a bus stop. I do not want to drive into a giant glowing orange box. The same applies to the glowing outlines around characters. They give people an almost "Borderlands"-style appearance, which personally does not suit this game. A small icon or subtle marker would be enough. Please give us simple ON/OFF options for these visual aids. ------------------------------ ★ AI TRAFFIC ★ AI traffic still needs work. Cars can stop for no obvious reason, hold up traffic or suddenly pull in front of the bus. Yes, bad drivers exist in real life, but repeated AI behaviour like this becomes frustrating rather than believable. ------------------------------ ★ ABOUT "THE BUS" AND "BUS BOUND" ★ "The Bus" took many years to mature. Personally, I was extremely frustrated with it during its earlier development, and it took me roughly three years before I really started enjoying it. That taught me how dramatically these games can improve. "Bus Bound" is more of a simcade experience, and what I like about it is that I can simply pick it up, drive, enjoy the scenery and put it down again. I am not asking Bus Simulator 27 to become "Bus Bound". I am saying I can now see it eventually becoming one of my favourite bus games if the developers polish the fundamentals. ------------------------------ ★ FINAL THOUGHTS ★ For me right now: 6/10 - MIXED. I am not quite ready to fully recommend it yet. The sat-nav can be route-breaking, force feedback is practically absent, false collision fines are serious, and the scoring, AI, passenger behaviour and visual immersion still need work. But the important thing is that my opinion has improved the more I have played. The first couple of hours gave me a very poor impression, but the longer I continued, the more the game opened up and the more charm I discovered underneath the bugs. I can see the developers listening and pushing updates, and I can genuinely see myself recommending this game in the future.

Mit ergebenen Grüßen, 林轩
Nowhere near as good as Bus Bound, unfortunately. While the map is much larger and nice looking, everything else is worse. Here are some of the problems below: - AI traffic is genuinely abysmal and buggy. They constantly get stuck, disappear, or just stop dead in the middle of the road. They haven't fixed this since Taxi Life. It's just a poor show for a 'full release'. - While the game aims for simulation, the game penalises you unfairly due to the plethora of bugs. AI traffic in your way because they have became stuck indefinitely? Well good luck as you'll get -3 points right away for 'driving on the wrong side of the road'. Not only this but the game registers turn signals incorrectly too. - In game events occur such as passengers harassing each other, but the game isn't clear on how you stop this while you are in the driving seat, and by the time you pull up to a stop, the 'event' has completely vanished/resolved itself. The events are just jarring and not fun, but you can tune them down. - While the city does have a beautiful tropical vibe, I just don't feel connected to it. There is no ambient noise around the city to make it feel alive. Cars honking, or any city-like noises. It feels too quiet. - The game just feels like it lacks polish. While you could argue Bus Bound has a smaller map, they nailed everything, even though it is a little more streamlined and arcade-like. It's just fun to play. Bus Bound's Emberville feels like a grounded city that you are driving in; there is ambient noise and it is well-detailed all around the map. Final thoughts: While there is definitely enjoyment to be had, this game lags behind its closest competitor in many aspects. I feel like this game should have released in early access because this done not feel like a 1.0 release.
It's like with new dev team they have started from the beginning, traffic is non existent, multiplayer is lacking features, the forced breaks after completing a route. Less passenger interactions, arcade style controls feels like not driving bus compared to previous games. Progression just happens regardless of how you drive, even with the bugs on buses crashing into you, random passenger collisions. Terrible graphics. Worst game out of the series by far and I've never written a review. So disappointed in this new entry to the series, it couldn't be worse.
## No recommendation – a new game that barely feels new I have been a professional bus driver for six years: **two years exclusively on scheduled public transport and four years full-time as a coach driver on tours across Europe.** I also own Bus Simulator 12, 16, 18 and 21. I was genuinely interested in BS27, especially because coaches were finally being introduced. Unfortunately, the result is extremely underwhelming. ### The biggest issues * **Driving & steering:** Barely improved over previous games and at times simply awful. * **Visibility:** Traffic approaching from the left can be almost impossible to see through the side window at certain junctions. * **Indicators:** Automatic cancellation often switches them off too early, then the game penalizes you for “turning without indicating”. * **Rain:** Visibility can become ridiculously bad to the point where you can barely drive. * **Company management:** Extremely disappointing and incredibly shallow. * **Technical state:** Crashes and numerous systems that feel unfinished or half-baked. * **Coaches:** Heavily advertised, but what you actually get feels more like **Wish.com interurban bus driving** than actual coach tourism. ### The real problem is the overall package BS27 is obviously *different* from BS21. New map, more buses, improved visuals and some new features. But **different does not automatically mean improved.** There is a new developer this time – Simteract instead of stillalive studios – while astragon remains behind the franchise as publisher. Who is responsible for which design decision is impossible to know and frankly irrelevant to me as a customer. **I judge the game I paid for.** And after playing Bus Simulator 12, 16, 18 and 21, I simply don't see enough meaningful progress to justify another full game. The new coach gameplay is probably the best example. As someone who has been driving coaches professionally across Europe for four years, I was particularly interested in this feature. Unfortunately, it has very little to do with actual coach tourism. Taking groups on tours, excursions, multi-destination trips, longer journeys and everything surrounding that could have made BS27 genuinely different. Instead, it mostly feels like **interurban routes with a coach model.** That's not really coach tourism – it's regular bus driving wearing a coach costume. The **company management is even more disappointing.** It feels like a half-finished Excel spreadsheet rather than operating an actual bus company. Where are the actual staffing requirements? Where are sickness and absences? Replacement drivers? Reserve vehicles? Proper dispatching? Unexpected operational problems? Shift coverage? Having to reorganize your operation because a driver calls in sick or a vehicle becomes unavailable? **Actual dispatching is basically nonexistent.** These are exactly the things that make running a bus company interesting. Assigning Driver A and Bus B to Route C through a basic interface isn't meaningful management. There is almost none of the operational depth and daily chaos that makes real bus operations what they are. And most importantly: **the core driving experience still hasn't made the leap I would expect after all these years.** I don't expect every sequel to reinvent the wheel. But BS27 genuinely feels like most of its additions could have been **€10 DLCs for an existing game combined with a proper HD/engine update**, and the end result wouldn't have been significantly worse. A new map, some additional buses, prettier graphics and a handful of half-baked systems are simply not enough to justify this as a new full-priced entry. **I cannot recommend Bus Simulator 27 at its current price.** For me, the game is worth **a fraction of what it currently costs**, especially if you already own previous entries. After all these years, this series needed a meaningful step forward. **Bus Simulator 27 mostly takes a step sideways.**
I held off on writing a review until the first post‑launch hotfix dropped, hoping it would smooth out the rough edges. Unfortunately, I’m still disappointed. The AI traffic is downright terrible, even after the update. Cars stop for no reason, block intersections, and generally behave like they’re trying to sabotage your route. It kills the flow of the game. And then there are the penalties, which are honestly infuriating. If I change lanes without a blinker, I get hit with a penalty. Fine. But when I do use my blinker, I still get slapped with “driving straight with my blinker on.” Same thing with turns — I signal properly, and about a quarter of the time the game decides I didn’t and dings me anyway. It’s inconsistent, annoying, and makes driving feel like walking through a minefield. I also wish bus customization had more depth. What’s there is okay, but it feels barebones compared to what a modern sim could offer. To be fair, the world, ambience, and sound design are solid. There is a good game buried in here. But right now, the vibe is completely dragged down by the broken AI and the hit‑or‑miss penalty system. I want to enjoy this — I really do — but until those core issues get fixed, it’s hard to recommend.
Bus Simulator 27 has a great foundation. The core gameplay is genuinely enjoyable, the map is beautiful, and the selection of buses is excellent. Most of the vehicle models are represented well and clearly received a lot of attention. Graphically, the game can look fantastic. I particularly appreciate the different visual presets, which can fundamentally change the presentation and make the game look more realistic and less cartoonish. My only major criticism of the map itself is that many roads feel unrealistically wide, especially for a setting inspired by Southern Europe. What currently holds the game back for me is the AI. It´s bad...verry...verry bad... and the lack of smaller but important details. For example, the dashboard does not properly illuminate when the lights are switched on. Some indicators use a strange alternating high-and-low tone instead of the characteristic “click-clack” sound you would expect from a real bus. In electric buses, the power gauge simply remains around zero while braking instead of moving into the negative range to represent regenerative braking. Individually, these may sound like minor complaints. Together, however, they noticeably reduce the authenticity of an experience that presents itself as a realistic bus simulator. The game could also explain many of its systems better, and the user interface currently feels rather clunky. To create a reasonably realistic experience, you have to disable many assists and interface elements. Even then, large parts of the screen continue flashing—for example, the corresponding corner of the display whenever an indicator is active. A much cleaner and more customizable HUD would make a significant difference. At this pre-release stage, I cannot quite recommend Bus Simulator 27 yet. That does not mean it is bad or unplayable—far from it. I already enjoy the basic experience, and the game has a great deal of potential. I sincerely hope the developers continue refining the UI, vehicle details, traffic behaviour, and overall authenticity, because there is a genuinely good bus simulator underneath the current rough edges.
This game is very bugging. Alot of features from bus simulator 21 are not in bus simulator 27 (although i know there are different developers). No dealership on the map. There is no open world. You can only drive the routes. Im very dissappointed in what has been developed in 6 years time.
