"This is a game that takes a premise and invests in several mechanics to tell a story, with some parts being vastly better than others. The short playtime really works in this game’s favor. The execution was solid; I enjoyed the text-adventure and fetch quests much more than the combat, but everything was good overall. The writing and the implications of character statements pushed me to see the ending of the game. There were some pretty dark moments—some of which came completely out of nowhere—and I am walking away with a solid impression of the game."

I love my buddy so much he is amazing
8/10 What a fun and whacky game. I highly recommend, as many do, to go in blind. Don't even bother with the trailer or anything. I can't really describe the game without spoiling it so let's just say this game is cute, fun, scary? The combat is not my favorite, but I just suck at parrying in any game so that's not their fault. The biggest downside, in my opinion, is that you have to play through the game multiple times to get all the endings/achievements. I'm not a fan of any game that does this as it is just an attempt to make you play the game longer for arbitrary reasons. It is different each time though, so at least it is still interesting enough. Overall, if you are an old school gamer this one will really hit, and is a funny and fun game. Recommended.

I think it's a decent and fun game, but you have to be into that post-2019 YouTube analogue + old tech horror niche to really find it scary. Another reviewer mentioned KinitoPet, and although Buddy Simulator released earlier, employs the same kind of scares. I didn't really get any horror experience out of this as a result - I thought it was a bit corny even. But still enjoyable nonetheless! Also, I really don't understand the comparisons to Undertale outside of UI and visual choice? I love UT but Buddy Simulator is very clearly it's own thing, don't go into it expecting it to be anything like it...
