Beautiful looking remaster. Some of the gameplay doesn't feel quite as fresh, with some of the inventory puzzle solutions being a bit non-sensical. Good characters except your love interest who doesn't do much or have much of a personality. Still, fun story and locations.

Originální Broken Sword v novém kabátě je úžasně nostalgický zážitek, ale za 30 EUR působí dost předraženě. Mrzí mě hlavně absence pasáží za Nico, které byly součástí Director’s Cutu, protože právě ty hře podle mě něco přidávaly. Původní verzi z roku 1996 už bych si dnes asi znovu zapnout nechtěl, takže tahle modernizovaná edice dává smysl, jen je škoda, že není obsahově kompletnější. Ve slevě kolem 15 EUR už bych ji ale rozhodně doporučil.

I picked the game up in the Steam sale, and it turned out to be outstanding value for money for 12.5 hours playthrough time. The graphics are beautiful, but it's the little touches that impressed me throughout the entire game. Being able to switch instantly between the new visuals and the original 1990's graphics never got old. Story Mode is one of the best additions. It keeps the game moving at a great pace, and it's cool that you can adjust the level of assistance whenever you want. It's an excellent way of making classic point-and-click adventures accessible to modern players without taking anything away from those who prefer solving every puzzle themselves. The audio deserves a special mention too. Keeping the original voice acting was absolutely the right decision. Yes, the recordings sound a little dated by modern standards, but after a few minutes you simply stop noticing. George, Nico and the supporting cast are brilliantly performed, and the dialogue remains genuinely funny. Back in the 90s I always preferred The Secret of Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2. They were my favourite graphic adventures. This remaster made me question that. More than anything else, it captures what I remember it feeling like to play a state of the art graphic adventure on my Amiga 500 over 30 years ago. Not what it literally looked like, but the way I remember it. My teenage daughter read my original Steam review and asked for a "quick look." We started a new game together, switching to the old 256-colour graphics while explaining that these were considered state-of-the-art back in the early 90s! What surprised me was how quickly she became absorbed in the story. When I had to stop playing, she carried on for another hour by herself. She told me she enjoyed the detective feel of the adventure, the relationship between George and Nico, and the witty dialogue. To me, that's one of the greatest compliments this remaster could receive. It proves that this isn't just a nostalgia trip. This is how you reimagine a classic game. The updated graphics, improved interface and enhanced audio all modernise the experience without losing its soul. Somehow, it still captures that magical feeling I remember from playing graphic adventures on my Amiga. Whether you're returning to relive your youth or have never played a graphic adventure before, I can recommend Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars – Reforged. It's a faithful, thoughtful remaster that respects the original while making it easy for a modern audience to enjoy.

Some interesting puzzles and a unique story. It took me entirely too long to realize that bringing up the same topic with a character could prompt new dialogue and wouldn't just lead to a repetition of what they'd just said. I think I found that especially confusing because showing an item to a character or interacting with objects would often lead to repeated dialogue. I also, unfortunately, found the main character to be absolutely insufferable personality-wise. I'd give this game a solid B and definitely recommend waiting for a sale to pick it up.

Das Spiel ist sehr zu empfehlen. Wirklich gutes Reforged Game. Die Story ist schlüssig und die Rätsel mit etwas Geschick leicht lösbar. Wenn man doch mal nicht weiter kommt, kann man sich ganz einfach Hilfe über den Hinweisbutton holen. Ich kann es sehr Empfehlen, eine glatte 10 von 10.
