About

Mainly created by a team of 5 people, Broken Pieces is the first game to come out of the French game development studio Elseware Experience.
When Elise and her fiancé decided to leave urban life and settle near the French coast, she could not imagine that she would end up completely alone.
Now, surrounded by strange phenomena in a dark, post-Cold War climate, Elise will have to investigate and unravel the mysteries surrounding the region of Saint-Exil, its ritualistic cult, and its lighthouse overlooking the coast.
Broken Pieces is an action-packed investigative and adventure video game set in France. The game puts you in the shoes of Elise, a woman in her thirties who finds herself in the village of Saint-Exil in an imaginary region reminiscent of Brittany. Following an unexplained paranormal phenomenon, Elise is stuck, completely alone and out of time. Your investigation begins here…

Sort of enjoyed this game. Lots of puzzles, running back and forth to solve them. But I couldn't quite figure out what the story was actually about. And I definitely didn't understand the ending. Maybe I will play this game again and it might click then.
To echo a review I saw elsewhere before playing, this game is a combination of a good story idea and bad implementation. Things I liked: Overall Plot The Visuals The Puzzles (loves me some puzzles) Things that I did not like: The Combat. It was annoying, clunky, and completely unnecessary. The PC port had some issues where the instructions for Controller vs Keyboard/Mouse overlap on screen and make things difficult to read. The ending is vague and anticlimactic (and also unclear about if its good or bad?) Its not a terrible game. I didn't hate it. But its drawbacks did annoy me more than i would have preferred.

A satisfying Resi like exploration puzzle game that happens to have occasional combat and a pretty interesting story. You'll go through a small village gathering items and finding ways to progress even deeper in as well as a few powers that you will use to change the setting to either stormy or snowy. The combat is a bit eh in the fact that it is a bit simple. There only seems to be 3 types of enemies and they all do relatively the same move set. You should use your super ammo as often as you can, not because it's needed but to just make things faster. Got through the whole game never using it at all and feel a smidge of regret there. Should take about a 8-10 stretch the first time to get 100% as well as a quick 3-4 sprint for the last achievement. Do note that the Broken Pieces Wiki works as the best kind of checklist at the end of the game to do a cleanup before finishing. Would absolutely say that $10 is a fair price for what is here.
