Broken Age

i happened to recall scenes from this game back when i was a kid watching game walkthroughs on you tube. once i figured out the name i immediately bought the game. played for nearly 6 hours the other day in one sitting. Its healing my inner child and traumatizing my adult brain. amazing soundtracks, beautiful storybook like animations, its better than i remember. even after the summer sales are over, its worth buying.

One of the best point&click games I've played. I enjoyed it as much as I did the Monkey Island series, for example. The dialogues are so well acted, it's really entertaining to watch! The puzzles are clear and logical, except for a few places. Closer to the end, however, it gets considerably harder and requires a lot of going back and forth, I got stuck for quite a while a few times and when I figured it out, it mostly wasn't satisfying, but rather annoying - some things are just not explained well to players or sometimes it's just not a good application of the game mechanics in general (and resetting the progress of multi-stage puzzle setup is just sadistic). However, overall it's still a great game. If you are a fan of Double Fine Productions work, you'll definitely love this one too. The game's narrative is keeping a great balance to keep the story interesting regardless of the player's age. Finished the whole game on Steam Deck without any issues.

Pretty fun game, but some of the puzzles towards the end are brutal. I had to use a walkthrough a few times.

I honestly didn't expect how much i'd LOVE this game! I'm not normally a person who loves puzzle games -I get stuck really easily- but the puzzles in broken age are just the right amount of tricky while still being able to solve and im honestly obsessed. It has its flaws of course, the main menu can get glitchy and all, and it takes a WHILE to walk from place to place, but when you get going the time flies right by! and not to mention the ARTSTYLE, which is INCREDIBLE! the dialouge is funny, the characters are compelling, the story is great, and -if you're not above using a guide every once and a while- im sure everyone would enjoy it!

This game means a lot to me. I watched a youtuber play it when I was a kid but have only now just fully played it myself. I have great memories of playing the act 1 demo when it came out, and the full game brought back that nostalgic feeling and new memories. I cannot praise this game enough. The art style and animation are beautiful. The music is great. The story and gameplay are fun. My one complaint is that some of the things you need to do are unclear, such as the first wiring section in act 2 with Vella, but other than that, the puzzles are fun and just difficult enough. If you enjoy point and click puzzle games and want something lighthearted, funny, and full of whimsy, this game is for you. Even the cutlery has character in this game, and you'll find yourself getting attached to inanimate (and surprisingly animate) objects. Gary is the best :)

Really liked the art of this, the voice acting, the first act, and a good bit of the 2nd act. It gets to a point in the 2nd act though where I was more annoyed than I was having fun (that knot puzzle and the wire puzzles). It also had a very lackluster finale that is not very satisfying. If this was more my type of game (point and click adventure games), I may have liked it more but as it is I thought it was just ok.

Although I'm not the biggest point-and-click fan, I really enjoyed this game! I love the story, the artwork and the playable character Vella! I recommend this game!

I thought the game was absolutely delightful and 100% worth playing through (As is anything by Double Fine, really). The story was compelling, the characters are engaging and funny, and the art is just stunning. If I were to have any gripes, some of the puzzles aren't very intuitive (especially the shoe size puzzle. You'd think the seven on of the boots would indicate the size of the boot and not the age that Shay wore the boots, given the seven was put on the only seven on the chart they make for you is in the size part of the chart.), but that's the nature of point and click games at times, and the game is old enough there's countless guides. The game is definitely worth playing, and I can't recommend the game enough. :)

As a fan of point-and-click adventures and Tim Schafer's other works, I absolutely loved this game.

This may be a suitable game for kids what with the simple gameplay and family-friendly dialogue, and I enjoyed the beautiful art style and pleasant soundtrack. Though there's also great potential to contrast the childlike vibes with a darker, stronger themed story involving human sacrifices, creepy eugenics and breaking your way out of circumstances that everyone gaslights you into believing you're helpless to change. It's all a fantastic setup however I felt the writing overall was a let down, and definitely shied away from delving too deep into said dark themes which felt unsatisfying. The plot twists were extremely good when they happened, but the rest of the story and dialogue felt incredibly slow paced for a vast majority of the game. It didn't help that the humour was lukewarm at best and a bunch of the side characters were mostly forgettable, cringe or just did unappealing stuff like erm, vomit tree sap. The one exception was the part with the lesbian Dead Eye Druids who eloped together 🫶 It's not a terrible game I just wouldn't say it's super worth playing unless maybe you're a fan of Tim Schafer's other works, I do want to try them some day though as they might be more my thing.
