I don't think I've ever played/read IF that has been in such a rush to be over. You're at your job for less than 24 hours, hardly unpacked, barely two chapters in, and the narrative treats it as if you've been there for six months. You never get to know any of the romance interests because there is nothing to know. Their sole qualities are whatever is required to keep the plot moving, same as the absurd "dates." The idea of romancing a demon dad sounds great but you never get to see him be a dad or even really a demon for that matter. Sure, "blonde", "twee", or "wears a suit" can be significant traits when there's nothing else behind it. It's all so toothless and bland. Aside from how unromantic it is, the protagonist is a little too "well defined" for my tastes. They spend most of the first chapter going on about how spooky this house is simply because it's run down or how their employer wrote a letter, like normal people don't live in dilapidated houses or some people just can't afford nor know how to email others. Surprised they didn't remark about how we need to close down libraries while they were at it. Choices are rather pigeonholed into stat archetypes which would be fine if any of them were reasonable but most result in or stem from the protagonist acting very stupid against your will. Despite generally being chaotic when I play games, I found my character clocked at a perpetual neutral because I tried my best to navigate around the most egregiously nonsense options. The short length means it's over before you know it, so at least it doesn't drag. 🤷♀️

I was very excited for this one, and it is not horrible, but everything is very underdeveloped, moves far too quickly and is more two-dimensional than a cardboard cutout.
Not what I was expecting from a Heart's Choice game. Extremely short, the plot happens far too quickly to enjoy any of the interesting parts of the story, and the romance is EXTREMELY rushed. Disappointed :/
I seriously enjoyed this one! It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's a nice break from reality. Nicki's an absolute sweetheart; if you're looking for a story where you can take care of a kid, this is one to consider!
Welp. I got so excited that there is a Hell Hound in here... Reminding me of Ty from "Forbidden Magic" and then I find out that he is just a dog. A hell dog, but still... So I had to move on. No doggy morphing into a human here for me... My character. >.> IF you just want to spend time with a young child + see if you can dominate the doggie (not in THAT way...) -> Then this game actually makes Nikky and Lucifer... Pretty much the more enjoyable characters lol. But if you are looking at potential love interest(s) and the rest of the story... Have you ever met new people and they all just said the same thing to you? "You are so amazing!" "Ooh... He has good tastes!" Or "You are awesome!" Did I repeat myself? So did the game. ALL love interests are immediately frothing at the mouth for this human. AND YES, I WILL TELL YOU SHE IS HUMAN. Sorry, the MC... You might want to play as a man. Kay so, IF the MC WAS a supernatural?! I WOULD BELIEVE IT! They have that "attractive otherworldly aura" about 'em... But this... I'd rather get a few words said to me, rather than get fake attention thrown in my direction. But that's just me. (Uhm... I am also not keen on thinking about "biting a man's thigh" upon meeting one... However... That was kinda hilarious). There is also not enough time to fall in love. This isn't the older times where you might drop dead sooner than later (just kidding here, geez). The characters are also NOT constantly in danger and fall in love due to that specific setting/effect... So how many days did it take for that one dude and the MC...? Five days...? Less...? Cool. I gotta say this too: Majority of what is presented as "love" is sexual attraction/tension. I mean, you can pick the option not to "love" or "sex" someone... But what's the fun in that? Heh heh. Also, I can't tell you what's so great about any of these characters either. Sigh. Except for child/doggy. There is a journalist (or he says he/she (you can pick) is...) I say that... Because my MC goes... "Hey, you know this dude? HE BAD! Don't freaking associate yourself with him!!!" That journalist goes "oh sheet, okay...! I wont!" I am like... WHERE'S THE PROOF?! Isn't that what the journalist supposed to say.......? The rest well... It's... Not bad... It just doesn't stand out all that much. If you really need your demon/angel fix... Or will read ANYTHING... Or want to hang out with a kid/doggie... You might have a tad bit of fun... Otherwise, it's just really... Just... Alright. :)
Overall, it was an enjoyable game. It's definitely not the deepest story, and the stat choices were written very obviously. However,I loved playing and taking care of the little boy, who was actually written fairly realistically for a child. The romantic interests are decent, even if the romance goes fairly quickly. I wouldn't buy it if it had been any more expensive, but it was a decent play.
I am on the fence about recommending this one. While it's certainly written well, I feel like there could have been more fleshing out done to the characters. Maybe I still need to go read it some more but the characters suddenly becoming attached to my character felt unrealistic, which is ironic considering that this game employs some fantasy elements. The final part as well felt a bit rushed and suddenly flung towards me with no warning, which makes me think that it could have been built up to better in that sense. It made me drop the story for a while before fully returning to finish it. With that said, it isn't bad. The story is interesting and I love how we can take care of a little kid and all the descriptions that came along with it. All in all, I hope whoever is reading this can give this story a shot for the kid and doggo.
剧情真的有好狗血,事实上从封面上就能看出整个故事就很狗血,但是毕竟狗血就是经典。作者的文笔还是很好的,整体娱乐性很高,角色设计也不错,可玩性很好
Personally i quite enjoyed this game. Nicki (the child you look after) is absolutely precious, Lucifer (the dog) has some funny interactions and Darien was my main choice for romance (cough cough Nickis dad). It's quite good if you can ignore the quick pace of the romance and story.
I enjoy this game, but I'd rather recommend getting it on sale. It's relatively short - or at least, it feels like that; it's not about the wordcount here. Overall, I like the setting and the characters (well, most of them), but I wish it was a bit of a slower burn when it comes to relationships. Now, obviously, this is a Heart's Choice game, which means it's mostly focused on romance as opposed to classic Choice of Games or even Hosted Games, but some of them are still paced slower which tends to be my preference. Basically, I'd give it a 6/10 or something around that. A bit better than middleground, but I've played better games too. There is just one thing that I want to warn you about, because I consider it's a weird narrative choice. Or well, maybe not narrative, but a choice pertaining to stats. It's spoilery since I have to explain the situation, but it may very well help you to avoid restarting the game because of a weirdly constructed stat check.
As you'll soon understand, one of the ongoing issues in the story is a conflict between demons and angels, that's still pretty contained but can become worse if nothing is done about it. At a point in the story, Gabby tells the MC how balance between order and chaos is important, and if your MC is actually balanced in that regard (there's a stat), they tell you "you may very well be what we need". Basically, the game strongly implies balance is the right choice. And you can actually end the game with the stat still perfectly on 50/50. The thing is... if you want peace between angels and demons, this is literally the only situation that has you locked out of it. Yes, despite what the game implies, balance is actually BAD, at least if your goal is to achieve peace, since by the end you have to try and get through to the demon or one of the angels about that, and they'll only listen to your suggestions if you have gained some affinity points with them AND lean towards their faction
So yeah, this is a strange choice - I think if anything, Gabby's check should be about balance instead of one of the sides, but it is what it is.
