Gameplay is everything
Bright Memory Infinite is a sort of "sequel" to Bright Memory (more like a remake) where you fight in an supernatural world. Short game and weird story. But the gameplay... Imagine playing Titanfall mix with Devil May Cry: you have this game. The whole concept is the gameplay: it's dynamic, pleasant, smooth and responsive, with a large selection of weapons to try and some skins for either weapons and main character. The landscapes are beautiful, the weather is also quite well done and the designs of the major part of the game are wonderful. It even features Workshop Steam mods if you want to customize your experience as you like. The only real downsides in my opinion are the short experience (~5 hours) and the weird car sequence that I didn't really like. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2864823247 I recommend this game to anyone enjoying dynamic gameplay with pretty graphics. Best to take it during sales and to keep in mind that this game isn't suppose to attract by a story, lore or so, it's only design to make an interesting gameplay, a dynamic fight sequences with pretty graphics! BM3 When?
🏆 Achievements 🏆
Finish the game in "Hell" difficulty (needs 2 playthoughs) and features some slighty grindy achievements. шелия!
If Bright Memory were a hand grenade, Bright Memory: Infinite would be a Hydrogen Bomb. Everything is improved at dramatic levels, the good shooting is now excellent, the decent hack 'n' slash is now fantastic, and the great graphics are now gorgeous. The story and universe are still a mess, but now there is a bit of development here and there. Still just an excuse to shoot stuff. The gameplay has been upgraded A LOT. Now we have more weapons, and the weapons have secondary fire modes that can also be upgraded. A lot more skills and upgrades were added, and the sword became a murder machine. As for the levels, it's a mix of Chinese villages and temples, all being sucked out by a black hole. It's always raining and windy, so the scenario's foliage is a joy to look at. I read somewhere that some scenarios and props were scanned and inserted in the game, like Ninja Theory with Hellblade, the results are phenomenal. As for the performance, yeah, not as good as the original. Naturally, the game is much more complex, so it requires much more firepower, however my gripes are regarding UE/DX12 shader stutters and not frames. After a while, it maintained a steady framerate even with Ray Tracing on and Native 1440p. I booted in DX11 once by accident, and it was running over 240FPS, but I had already played quite a bit. Maybe compiling shaders before playing? Who knows. My Bright Memory: Infinite run clocked in at 2 hours, and besides the bad story, the only critique I have is that I wish it was longer. It's a superb game, and it's even more absurd that it was mostly made by one dev.
I like the mods from the community! The game is short, and I feel like the story is a little bit shallow, but the combat is acceptable. I personally like long story and more combat kind of thing. Buy this game only if it's on sale. And definitely check out the mods!
This is one of those times there really needs to be a "mixed" option. This game is quite pretty, if a bit visually busy. The big issue is that is tries to do a lot of things, but it doesn't do any of them particularly well. The characters are barely introduced, so you have no emotional connection to any of them. The game starts off as sci-fi, but them gets magical elements quickly tacked on. More than anything, it feels like I'm watching the finale to a multi-season show that I've never seen before. That said, it does play decently. If you are looking for a cheap way to kill an afternoon, this will do just fine.
While I enjoyed the skills of the OG Bright Memory, this does feel like a more complete game that doesn't over stay it's welcome.
Short game but still a good one
