This game so good I had to review, thank god the sex barely plays a role in the game as its a side thing, its so very side thing you can turn it off. Got a lot more playtime than i thought, combat gets really hard in the proper way, story is crazy as ♥♥♥♥ and funny at times too. I super recommend you play the game for all it has as it's always getting better as you play the extra contents, especially the EXTRA, you'll see what it means when you get there.

Break Wolf is a one of the more uniquely dark RPGs I've ever played. Combat is always 1-on-1, you have to manage protein points and a Contamination bar, and it has a completely different route you can take through the story. It's not very long, so I'd say check it out if you're okay with scenes of gore, sex, or sudden animal TF. ++Pros++ +The art style is quite good. Very manga-esque with lots of cut-ins, reaction images, and cool character and monster designs. +The music is both weird and catchy. Kind of reminds me of Cowboy Bebop at times, which is high praise. +You have choices to make that alter your route significantly, not like Undertale but in a similar ballpark. This encourages replayability for a different experience, and it helps that the game isn't very long or particularly difficult, besides the late game bosses. +The story has a nice starting point and arc all throughout, even if the English translation is a little off, at times. It's still very legible and you understand character motivations and where they're coming from in this world they're trapped in. +The fights are unique considering each monster and boss has a unique identity and set of attacks, but this also means there are not a lot of them. It's a quality over quantity approach. ++Cons++ -The sexual content is not much of a feature, but it works when aligned with the plot points. It's optional side content, anyway. I wouldn't consider it as a worthy part of the conversation when talking about the game. -The game was made in RPG Maker 2003, so the engine shows its age a lot. It can do a lot of interesting things, but it can also do very, VERY simple things. Basically, the game is very simple, don't expect a lot of depth or complexity in mechanics. -The structure is very repetitive. You walk down a hallway, watch a story scene, fight maybe 2 monsters, a boss, then rinse and repeat for the whole game. I didn't mind it too much because I felt like the story was progressing just fine, but it can get boring if you're expecting more variety in locations and events. -The story is the best aspect of the game, meaning the gameplay is kind of left by the wayside sometimes. You'll be doing more reading than anything else. Overall, I enjoyed Break Wolf for its art and story, and I liked it enough to play through it more than once. It's a unique creation that clearly had a lot of effort and care put into it. I'm gonna say 7.5/10, it has some solid strengths but it's not the best RPG out there.

I originally got the game cause I really liked the artsyle, and honestly its the best part of the game. Sadly it suffers from having a bad english translation, which makes the character dialogue very weird and sometimes nonsensical, although the story is still comprehensible for the most part. The gameplay outside of battling is pretty repetitive, the game can be resumed on doing the same thing 5 times, cause every "level" follows the exact same structure, said structure being incredibly simple. The characters are quite nice tho, I enjoyed most of them, although I did get a bit tired closer to the end. I wish I could give a neutral review cause I don't particularly love this game but I also dont hate it.
Didn't think I could be jumpscared by a game engine, but who can really blame me when you see RPGmaker 2003 pop up on the intro page? Summary: Overall it's a pretty great little indie title all things considered, with solid character sprite art, a strange but sincere story, and an enjoyable combat system. It's also a game I think deserves more attention; it's definitely putting the 'hidden' in "hidden gem". Pros: Character Art: Really well done artwork for all the characters with a good cast, they're expressive and add a lot of color to the game. If I had to guess this is probably the reason most people are drawn to the title in the first place and it remains good throughout. Combat System: The game features 1:1 fights between the protagonist and the various enemies, with said engagements following set patterns of attacks, which are also unknown until you're hit by them. This makes for a pretty fun system where you're on the backfoot to start with, but can develop strategies to mitigate enemy strengths as the fights progress. Decent RPG elements: The player can equip genes to modify their passive stats as well as costumes for the backup protagonist, which alters her moveset. Combined with additional abilities earned from playing through the two routes and you get a pretty good spread of options. Post-game content: There are essentially three epilogues, one for each of the two routes and then a "true end" type arrangement. The true end it pretty enjoyable but the others are pretty bland so I'm putting it in both sections. Cons: Non-character artwork: Everything aside from the characters is extremely barebones. It doesn't really end up actively inhibiting the gameplay, but it's rough. Multiple paths: I'm also putting this as a negative because the B side is really undercooked. It does provide some backstory for the cast, but as far as I could tell nothing would inhibit that content being in the A route as well. I really feel like it would have been a stronger narrative if it was just one longer linear experience. Justifying hoarding: This is a tiny nitpick, but I feel obligated to include it. Normally, the game has a limited supply of items and the expectation that you'll use them. In the True End, it's sprung on you that the items you get are derived from the totals you had in your A and B route playthroughs. This is obnoxious because it makes you immediately regret all those prior item uses, because now you're thinking about what if you'd make do without?

Cool gameplay, great art style and enjoyable story! Was reminded of off when I first saw it so I picked it up, Overall a good time. For anyone put off by the NSFW aspects, they can be turned off completely and it doesn't feel like less of a game for it. Looking forward to anything else put out by this team!
