Short and simple platformer with some progression system set in a small closed area. Gain abilities to get further and uncover new paths. Setting is very small and might even feel claustrophobic - it's just a tiny room filled with platforms and such. But surprisingly exploration part is somewhat interesting and getting access to the new areas is enjoyable.
This game is amazing. From the gameplay to the lore, this game is for casual and hardcore gamers alike. The lore is extremely rich and deep and it will keep you invested. I recommend this to anyone.

The most mediocre metroidvania I've ever played in my life. If it's like 25 cents, then sure, go for it for a quick 100% if that's your thing. Otherwise, meh.
"boxlife" is a very badly made 3D platformer. All you do is pick up three different abilities then use them to finish the very short game. This looks and feels like someone's programming homework assignment. An assignment done so badly, that not only did the student fail the course, but they were held back a year as a result. And yet, somehow, this garbage is up for sale, for profit, on Steam. That's not okay. There's already enough garbage here for gamers to have to wade through. On the upside, the game does feature customisable controls and resolution, so at least some of the basic, minimum requirements have been met. Unfortunately there's a number of other technical defects and shortcomings which contribute to the game being difficult to recommend to gamers. The game features lazy minimalist/untextured low-polygon "retro" assets and visuals, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the early 1990s. The lack of textures is a method that lazy devs often use to disguise their lack of talent/interest in doing the graphics properly and trying to disguise it under the name of "art", or "We made it look bad on purpose", which really isn't something gamers should have to put up with. It's unclear why the developers weren't willing to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets and high resolution textures for the game. It looks bad as a result of their decisions, and that's just another reason to avoid it. The controls and game handling are notably very clunky and unsmooth here. It's janky and unsatisfying to play... and any experienced gamer will tell you, the handling, responsiveness and general gameplay feel of the control scheme must be well polished for this kind of game to succeed. Unfortunately, this is something the developer seems to have phoned in, with little to no apparent gameplay testing. They dropped the ball on this one. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The game never really caught on with the millions of gamers on Steam, with a very low peak player count close to launch, and then just a handful of players launching this game every couple of days. This is undoubtedly caused by factors such as those raised in this review. It's always helpful with buying decisions to consider how popular and successful the product is, and unfortunately while this did accumulate a few participation trophy reviews, overall, people just aren't using it. "boxlife" is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. This is also competing with over 9,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product.
