About
Bonelords is a Rogue-like, Souls-like, Terraria-like wave defense game, with an emphasis on combat & character build choices. Defend the mystical Fort Platz as you teleport across the lands of Speghiem. Each run is unique in this rogue-like experience!
Play and grow your character to play the way you want. Eight different starting classes keep each run different from the start! Level up your character's stats in whatever way you see fit - each stat is multipurpose. Pick your relics after each great enemy defeated to give you a major, unique boost in power (and believe me, you will need it)! No two characters are the same!

Dodge to move and gain invulnerability frames! Hit enemy attacks with your own to deflect & clank with theirs! Break down enemy poise to stagger them and go in for the kill! Every weapon has both a regular attack and a special attack, allowing for a wide variety of skill expression! Even dodge into the ground to wavedash and gain massive speed - we have it all!
Build your own defenses to stop the hordes. Put up walls and lay traps to delay and destroy the enemy! But beware; for the enemy will tear at your defenses from the ground up! If your structures weaken and crumble, the enemy (and yourself) will get crushed under it's weight!
Pass down attributes, items, and relics by inheriting the marrow of your previous champions! Build your list of legacies & train better parents, so that you can overcome even steeper obstacles!
Don't go it alone! Split screen multi-player with up to four other players. Remote play and let your friends in as well, at any distance, and on one copy of the game!

The best Terraria-like, Souls-like, Rogue-like experience I have ever opened! 100/1 stars good work wizards
its good
Bonelords is an ambitious indie roguelike that blends fast-paced combat, defensive strategy, and long-term progression into a chaotic but highly rewarding experience. Developed by Z0 Game Studios, the game refuses to limit itself to a single genre. Instead, it combines side-scrolling action, Souls-inspired mechanics, tower defense systems, and roguelike structure into something that feels unpredictable and constantly engaging. The central objective revolves around protecting Fort Platz from endless enemy assaults while building stronger characters and reinforcing defenses between increasingly difficult waves. What initially seems like a simple action game quickly reveals surprising depth through its combat systems, build variety, and strategic gameplay layers. One of the game’s strongest aspects is its combat system. Movement feels fast and responsive, and battles rely heavily on timing, positioning, and quick reactions. Dodging attacks at the correct moment grants invulnerability frames, enemy attacks can be interrupted or deflected, and managing stamina during combat becomes essential during more difficult encounters. Every weapon type feels distinct, with different attack speeds, special abilities, and combat styles encouraging experimentation. The combat takes noticeable inspiration from Souls-like games, but it adapts those mechanics into a faster side-scrolling format that feels both challenging and satisfying. Character progression is another area where Bonelords excels. Players can choose from multiple starting classes, each offering different strengths and gameplay approaches. Some focus on aggressive melee combat, while others emphasize mobility, ranged attacks, or defensive utility. As runs continue, players gain access to relics, stat upgrades, and equipment combinations that significantly alter how combat unfolds. The flexibility of the build system encourages experimentation because nearly every run can evolve into something completely different depending on item choices and upgrade paths. What makes the game particularly interesting is how it combines direct combat with tower defense mechanics. Between waves, players can build walls, traps, and defensive structures to help protect the fortress from incoming enemies. These defenses are not simply passive additions; they require careful placement and strategic thinking to remain effective. Defensive structures can collapse under pressure, become damaged during fights, or even create dangerous situations if poorly positioned. This balance between personal combat skill and defensive planning gives the game a much deeper strategic layer than many standard roguelikes. The roguelike progression loop is also handled well through the game’s inheritance and legacy systems. Even failed runs contribute toward long-term advancement because players gradually unlock stronger traits, upgrades, and inherited bonuses for future characters. This system helps reduce frustration by ensuring that defeat still feels productive. Over time, players steadily gain access to stronger builds and more advanced strategies, creating a satisfying sense of progression across multiple attempts. Visually, Bonelords embraces a colorful and exaggerated art style filled with personality. Characters, monsters, and environments all carry a distinct indie charm that helps the game stand out from darker and more serious roguelikes. Enemy designs range from grotesque undead creatures to bizarre fantasy monsters, while bosses often combine intimidating attacks with humorous visual details. The side-scrolling perspective keeps the action readable even when the screen becomes filled with enemies, traps, and visual effects during chaotic later waves. The soundtrack and sound design contribute heavily to the game’s atmosphere. Music shifts naturally between calmer preparation phases and intense battle sequences, helping maintain momentum throughout each run. Combat sounds are especially satisfying, with impactful effects for weapon clashes, staggered enemies, collapsing walls, and powerful attacks making every fight feel energetic and dangerous. Cooperative multiplayer adds another layer of replayability. Playing with friends through local split-screen or Remote Play Together creates some of the game’s best moments, especially when coordinating defenses and combining different builds during difficult waves. The chaotic nature of combat becomes even more entertaining with multiple players managing different roles, and the cooperative systems fit naturally within the game’s design. Despite its strengths, Bonelords is not without flaws. The large number of mechanics introduced early on can feel overwhelming for new players, particularly those unfamiliar with roguelikes or skill-based combat systems. Difficulty spikes can also become unforgiving during certain runs, especially if players fail to build effective defenses or receive poor upgrade combinations. Some later battles become visually crowded as enemies, projectiles, and environmental effects flood the screen, occasionally making combat harder to read. Even with these issues, the game’s creativity and ambition consistently outweigh its rough edges. Bonelords succeeds because it fully commits to blending multiple genres instead of relying on a single gameplay formula. Every run feels unpredictable due to the variety of upgrades, enemy encounters, and defensive strategies available. The combination of strategic planning, fast action combat, and roguelike progression creates a gameplay loop that remains highly addictive over long sessions. For players who enjoy challenging roguelikes, tactical defense mechanics, and build-focused progression systems, Bonelords offers a deeply entertaining indie experience filled with replay value and personality. Its fusion of action-heavy combat and strategic fortification mechanics gives it a unique identity that separates it from many traditional roguelikes. While its steep learning curve and chaotic difficulty may not appeal to every player, those willing to master its systems will discover a rewarding and highly replayable game packed with creativity and satisfying progression. i wish i could play it online properly with my friends good game still
Great game love it but i have a problem where my character in my previous run is overlapped with my new one and the remote play is also a little buggy but otherwise great game
I feel like it needs more content. I don't wanna just replay the same game again on a harder difficulty
Personally, I think this game is great. It doesn't look the best(♥♥♥♥), but it makes up for it with its silly wizard tutorial and sound effects. There's also no community; no discord server, no subreddit, at least nothing I can find. Its a charming little game that just needs to add some stuff, and it'll be perfect. PS: PLEASE BUFF BUILDING!!!! I was really excited for the trapping part, but building feels wildly underpowered and slow.
Undoubtedly a very creative and refreshing game. The trailer caught my attention and the gameplay made me stay. Hopefully the wizards will provide us with more updates. I am going for the "lunatic mode" now.
BEST GAME EVER
