The game is very unique yes, but it is not fun. This is my subjective opinion but blue prince isn't the puzzle game it claims to be, I mean why would you mix problem solving (a rewarding thing based on skill) with RNG (a non-rewarding thing that includes no skill and is based on luck)? The puzzles are not fun, too tedious, and you have to look 90% of them up because the clues are never pointing to one thing on how to solve a puzzle. Also, talking about the word puzzles, puzzles are actually only a whopping 20% of the game, so if an escape-room type game is what you're looking for like me, look elsewhere. Logic puzzles and problem solving are only like 20% of the game. The rest of the 80% belongs to trying to sparingly and carefully organize the sequence of one room to another with a large chance that your whole run could be ruined by a dead-end room. So it's basically a roguelike escape mansion simulator that does not feel rewarding because it's all luck based. The only skill involved is trying to predict which rooms it will let you spawn, but that's it. There's some strategy to it, but boy oh boy the ending, if you can even get to it, is so boring and all it does is give you a trophy for completion. Where is the entertainment? I should've listened to the reviews, this game is definitely not for everyone and I think chances are it's not for you, but you be that judge. Take heed, this is NOT a beginner-friendly chill and interesting puzzle game. It is a chore that will bore you 2-3 hours in of youtube tutorials and tiktok videos that nobody even makes because this game is so niche and boring.
In my heart this will always be GOTY 2025... Not for everyone... don't feel bad for looking some help but if you put the effort some of this puzzles are the best i've had in a game. The whole rouglike thing its not the best as it can be a little RNG dependant but hey... either you accept it or don't deal with it... Something i feel its not often discussed about this is the level of story telling... as a souls fan its hard to top it but this certainly did... and it overpassed it IMO. So much hidden details and the handholding its enough to get you to care but not enough to uncover the secrets. Truly a masterpiece in my eyes.
I know I have only just scratched the surface of this game but my god it's incredible. You want some notes.
DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME IF YOU ARE NOT SMART YOU WILL WANT TO KILL YOURSELF AFTER THE FIRST HOUR GREAT UNCLE SINCLAIR YOU REALLY MESSED UP BIG TIME TRUSTING ME WITH THIS
Most of the puzzles are *really* good. I really don't like puzzles that are difficult by being vague. The puzzles in this game feel impossible at first, but then once you have a flash of insight, it's obvious you've found the correct answer even before the game gives you confirmation.
I'M OBSESSED WITH THIS GAME, I HATE EVERY SINGLE ROOM IN THIS HOUSE AND THERE IS NO GOING OUT, ONLY THROUGH. 11/10
I want to like this, but it's too long, too vague, too difficult and too repetitive.
This game is incredible, just get it and play it blind, trust! You will know within the two hour refund window whether or not its for you. Don't google anything, don't spoil anything for yourself, its an incredible incredible puzzle game. If that's your thing then you should get it, simple as
Amo a arte do jogo, que é feita à mão e é muito linda. Adoro os puzzles e a história é muito boa, ir descobrindo mais dela é muito satisfatório, estou completamente viciada.
The game is too random. It doesn't respect your time. I kept notes on paper, wrote clues from here and there, things from books that maybe would help in a future puzzle. Almost three pages of notes and a bunch of screenshots. That was actually fun. But I wasted more hours than I should, drafting useless rooms and deadends. Not been able to find the item I was looking for that would REALLY help the run was very frustrating. After some good rng I finally reached the end... Of course it was not the end. The game has a thousand more hours of content, most of them empty. The things the game expects from you to figure out.... It's not even funny. You literally need the stars to align in order to progress in some cases... and thats the easy part. It's not for everyone, definitely not for me. Can't recommend.
