Enhanced and updated for modern systems, this is the definitive edition of the action horror game that unleashed the red-headed dhampir on the world. In a story spanning five years, Rayne must stop a madman bent on using occult relics to bring about a new age of domination for the Third Reich.

Such a Vibe. Immaculate lightning to set the stage for a fun old school hack-and-slash game that will definitely make you feel like you are in a Sisters Of Mercy video.
00s banger from the times when it was cool to be cool. Janky but still fun and unique experience. Personally I have tripple dipped on Rayne. Got physical release, GOG and steam versions.
A fun game but with the worst level design ever. only good thing about this game is rayne and nothing else
I bought this game as an impulse buy when I was bored. It was 4.99 so I thought "why not". Before going in I had no prenotions about what the game was about. I'd hear the name once or twice and seen the main character but I went in blind. I have a little bit of a soft spot for janky, early 2000s video games. And this sure is a video game. You do in fact play it and do things. I really don't have much to say about it to be honest. The game is good, but its really not great. It is a serviceable, cheap melted ice cream, cheese pizza with no toppings kinda game. It can be really fun for a quick romp and to just experience the rather dated game design. The gameplay is arguably the best part since for the most part you do feel like a strong as hell dhampir who just slices through enemies and dual-blasts SMGs. But at times they take that feeling away from you with enemies who can block your attacks or just can tank a lot. So by the end you start feeling less powerful, especially since you don't really get much in terms of power ups. Some new attacks and a couple abilities which I just found to be useless, since Blood Rage carries any difficult encounter you might have. There isn't much to be had in terms of strategy, you just pop Blood Rage and circle the guy you're trying to kill. The story is barebones, its just the standard 'occult nazis, gotta stop 'em - plotline' a.la every Wolfenstein game ever made. Rayne is arguably the most interesting part of the game and even she is given nothing in terms of character. She is just a rather good looking dhampir working for a secret society and looking for her dad for reasons unknown. The whole game operates on the rule of cool, except the "cool" the game goes for got dated about 3 years after the game came about. Though it has its charm. Rayne is also probably what gave this game most of its sales back in the day, since she is just kinda unapologetically designed to be hot. Skimpy, leather outfit and all. ASMR moans as you suck a man dry of his blood and physics where it matters most. I can imagine this game being very popular with teenagers in eastern Europe. Don't mistake me though, I don't mind her design at all. But it does feel at times a little weird, thats all. Also, the two other women in the game are dressed basically the same. Like I said, for 4.99, I can't complain about much. The level design is okay, though it could've used more varied objectives and its easy to get lost. The game is pretty piss easy for the most part barring a couple levels that made me wanna do horrible things and it kept me engaged enough for the 7-ish hours it took me to finish. Buy it on sale but only if you don't mind this type of janky title and if you don't have anything better to do.
they just dont make games like this anymore
