Fun game , but just a money grab. Many things don't work been abandoned. Don't buy
Very good game! Would strongly recommend the game if not for it being abandoned by the devs post-launch with unfixed bugs and missing potential QoL improvements. They gave the excuse of being a small company of 5 devs, but they could have 1 of the devs working partial time to support this game instead of cutting off updates 3 months post-launch. The devs have already moved on to 2 new game Demos and 1 Full Game after this one.
Game feels unbalanced in relation to large (bigger than 4x4x4) blocks. Machine and belt speeds don't match at all and peak of it is in chess section, where there are required 100 items per second on belt carrying 90 items. So you need to double any large production you have, just for those last 10 items. Dev mentioned in discussions that they would look into it, but 4 months later - nothing, hence negative review.
Huge performance issues, only the first level works fine. Dev abandoned the game.
Sorry, tried hard to flip TURTLE on the 1st lvl for one hour... Something is wrong with N/S/E/W orientation in this game. Fix it!
Game stops loading at 85%. Appears others have this same issue. Until it is fixed, it is unplayable.
I love Shapez and I love Lego - what could go wrong? A lot.. The first ten or so hours are pretty fun. Get your blocks, shape them, colour them, build something - nice! But at the point where Shapez picked you up with automation, Block Factory just continues being exactly the same thing. It gets so monotonous and tedious. I found myself building a really long conveyer to ‘store’ some buildings so I could double feed instead of doubling up the factory to get more than 60/min. Just to finish the game. And then there are the bugs. Splitters sometimes act so absolutely random. I deleted half of my factory a few times, as some splitting just didn’t do. Splitting a 240 in half resulting in two 110 seems off.. And the framerate. Oh hell.. This game is optimized so incredibly bad, you’re almost forced to delete everything when starting the next build.
I'm enjoying it, but each item can get so complex, with so many layers, each of which is complex on its own, and I'm not even out of the first land! Four more of those after this first one. I'll keep pushing on, but if each of the 3 items in each level is this complex, then I doubt I'll reach the end of the game. Edit: I finished the 2nd land, and the creations just get larger and more annoying. I've enjoyed it, but I have drawn the line here and am moving on.
At first the game is enjoyable. It lasts for as long as you are unlocking new machines. After that things turn sour. The speed upgrades are downgrades for your gameplay. All the required items are in speeds of 60 and when your using a single line of 240 input, split between multiple different parts of the constuction, some parts will be counted as faster than 60 and some slower, making the final product the slowest in the chain, which varies. The solution is to split everything evenly (dont use manifolds, but divisions like one belt to 2 or 3) but it's not that simple if youre working with double cutter exports. After world 2 all youre thinking about on the build is how to slice it into the 4x4x4. It's doable for world 2-3 but goes off the rails in world 4 with builds like the Wave which can't be split easily. Adding piece by piece to a large grid build is not possible as youre running out of room. So the game becomes pretty much a split line discerning simulator and NOT a usual factory builder. In all other games you feel getting more powerful and the game mechanics changing. Like in ONI you go thru basics -> pipes -> thermals -> vacuum -> space chain, in factory you get faster machines and have to rebuild your systems to keep up with the production, in DSP you literally start jumping between planets and doing chemicals, then copy-pasting with drones etc. All those games have something new coming your way up until the end of the game but here - nothing. After all the machines are unlocked you just keep doing things over and over, every build getting more annoying to split. Even when comparing to more similar games like Beltex or shapez - it's not comparable since there you could copy paste the smaller details and work on larger things. In here you have to think about every piece and how it fits to the next one up until the end which is too repeating. If the builds had common elements you could copy over - or somehow copy your previous builds so they would be useful in your future builds somehow - that would help a lot.
Pretty fun bite-sized factory game that involves a fair bit of problem solving and thinking. The game is split into levels spread across an overworld. To beat each level player must assemble several figurines using different tools like stackers, gluers, cutters, and other, and deliver them to the central diorama. Figurines increase in complexity as you progress through the game. By level 5 I already had to think a lot about how to utilize available mining spots and optimize assembly chains in order to fulfil the conditions and get all stars for completion of the level. And that's besides thinking about how to assemble the figurines themselves. The only problem I see with the game so far is performance. By the end of level 5, when I was completing the final steps of my assembly line for the last figurine, my FPS dipped to 55 and the game was feeling choppy as the result. I wish there was an option for a neutral review. Because while the game is fun, performance issues are unacceptable. If it'll get worse later with more complex figurines, it will ruin the entire experience. EDIT: So far, besides that one level, performance has been good. With no issues. However, I've got another complaint - figurine viewer rotates in 3 axis. This is infuriating, because it's impossible to rotate it the way I want. I wish the devs locked it to 2 axis rotation.
