Phantom Spark

Phantom Spark is perfect. Gliding and smooth coasting but with the speed of a high powered alien bug. It's otherworldly, an instant escape. I want to believe in this idyllic society of highly disciplined and emotionally aware people. Round and round in circles we go.

If you enjoy grinding through TrackMania solo campaigns, this is definitely the right game for you. You are given a number of increasingly complex courses and can, with very basic mechanics, just through optimization of lines and momentum, improve on your times for medals. It feels very satisfying to play with a great sense of control and speed, and the environments are very unique, pretty and atmospheric, even if the novelty of the game's visual design might wear out fairly quickly. Compared to TrackMania, the physics and your ability to interact with the courses is much more restrictive, which can both be a good and bad thing, depending on your point of view: TrackMania, with its often stunt-like track designs and ability to interact with everything on the map, can quickly devolve into a game of chaos-theory, while Phantom Spark keeps you on the track and the vehicle upright. This means that the often luck-based stunt-randomness of TrackMania is entirely lost, but in return you can focus entirely just on your driving

Fun game, but the promo material doesn't really portray the game. It's just time trials, not actually racing against others.

This is a little indie title with a lot of punch. It's a time trial racing game about finding the perfect line (similar to Trackmania). With fluid controls and a pacing that teaches you the important mechanics to succeed as you go. Couple this with a soundtrack that just oozes style and atmosphere and this game becomes a path to Nirvana. Track layouts are difficult but very fair. As you figure out your lines, they become incredibly satisfying to drive. If you enjoy Trackmania, or even traditional racing, give this one a shot. It's a little gem that might surprise you.

Fun game with great visuals and sound. My biggest complaint is that there doesn't appear to be any valid reason to use the brake. On a related note, you really need to be pressing the accelerator almost constantly. So it does lead to some fatigue on that finger. That was, at least, my experience when using a gamepad. I would recommend using the D-pad instead of an analog stick for steering as it was hard to ensure full steering response with the analog stick.

The poor man's trackmania. The game is not bad, but... Firstly. The dev doesn't care and hasn't delivered promised QoL features like a controls rebinding. Secondly. A lack of content, only ~30 tracks. Buy only with a big discount.

Эта игра глубже чем кажется. Сейчас я не успеваю об этом рассказать, но как в случае с Decarnation или Viewfinder, у Phantom Spark есть терапевтический потенциал. Вернуться стоит, точно. Но уже на следующем круге спирали.
