It's like the original (Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold) only with 20 levels instead of 60, which a good thing. It still used the Wolfenstein 3D engine in 1994, when DOOM's engine was already out. The maps were a bit less maze-like so you were able to finish levels faster, but it still felt like it goes on forever. I wouldn't recommend to play this game without nostalgia glasses. The art style is still nice though. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2976474579
Old-school first-person shooter where you fight your way through futuristic complexes filled with mutants, robots, and secret experiments ✅Map system with zoom and secret detection ✅I liked the soundtrack ❌The graphics are awful, but that's no surprise considering the game is from 1994 ❌Repetitive gameplay and monotonous levels ❌Low enemy variety ❌Bosses should be more challenging, but that doesn't seem to be the case with this game ❌The price should be lower ❌❌ Verdict: Terrible , [strike] Bad [/strike], [strike] Mediocre [/strike], [strike] Decent [/strike], [strike] Good [/strike] , [strike] Very Good [/strike] (Rating scale for short games, retro indie simulator games and similar)
If you'd like to see more of my reviews, you can find them on my curator page:CuratorKingViking and on my group: GroupKingViking If you have any questions about my reviews, feel free to ask.I'm happy to answer them. 远古时期的FPS游戏,以当前的眼光来说操作还是很不适应的,属于收藏大于实际游玩的意义
Largely just more of the same when compared to the base game. There are some improvements, but also some downsides. At the end of the day though, this is really just a little bit more of Blake Stone. PROS: - Slightly improved level design and enemy variety - Fun visuals CONS: - Very short, taking around 90 minutes to complete - Minimap is now harder to discern
Blake Stone: Planet Strike
Nota: 7,5/10
Blakestone planet strike missed it back in the day when it was first released just finished it and i must say its alright play i dont know if my recommendation shame it got panned back when it came out i decided to recommend it as its a game worthy of a something if you love old skool fps games from the 90's
Blake Stone Planet Strike is like Spear of Destiny to Wolfenstein 3D. It is a separate title, but is more like an expansion as it is about a third of the length of Blake Stone. There are a few new features, but largely is the same. There is a sixth weapon, which I think isn't cost effective, and a map on the HUD now. Batteries can be picked up for the map as you are able to view it in 1x, 2x, or 4x zoom modes (2x and 4x cost battery). It is too small and simplistic to be effective for anything, I would prefer a screen size map (like Doom or Heretic or many other games that did that). The game doesn't feature episodes, but 20 (plus a few secret levels) consecutive levels this time. All of the enemies from Blake Stone make an appearance here with some new additions to the line-up, which I think this makes Planet Strike much harder than Blake Stone. Especially the new cloaked enemies and a couple of enemies disguise themselves as pillars unless alerted. Aside from those differences, it plays the same and the levels are new and unique enough. More or less, the story is concluded and Blake Stone hasn't been seen since this game. I think if you enjoyed Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold, you will have fun with Planet Strike. I would recommend getting the Apogee Throwback Pack rather than buying Blake Stone and Planet Strike separately (you get both games and Rise of the Triad plus Dark War for $9.99 USD.
WELCOME BACK TO THE MUSIC THE SECRETS AND THE MAGIC OF BLAKE STONE!
Apogee means action! Somehow, I've always liked this phrase and I just wanted to say that. So, about Blake Stone: Planet Strike, if you're into retro shooters, you have to try this one. Like many, I can say it plays a lot like Wolfenstein 3D, but instead of fighting Nazis, you're in space doing space stuff and fighting mutants. The game gets really cheap during sales, so just get it then and give it a try. Also, it works just fine on the Steam Deck despite no info about it here.
