I would 100% have recommended this if not for three things: 1. Xen is insanely long now. I thought the complaints were just about the Xen chapter itself, but no, I mean Xen, Gonarch's Lair, and Interloper are so long it's honestly a bit exhausting considering what two of the achievements require. 2. Speaking of those two achievements. Jesus Christ. The reward truly does not justify the headache of carting two items from earlier in the game to the very end of the game. Not to mention you hit a point where you can't bring along both anymore so you're left to slog through most of Interloper and then defeat the big bad all over again. This wouldn't be an issue if not for number 3. 3. The two items required themselves. The hat may as well have a rocket attached to it with how often it'll just go off on it's own adventure, often times out of reach or off of the map, and good luck getting the pizza box through most small spaces. It's big, clunky, and vents absolutely hate it. If you want to play the game one time through and ignore the two most tedious achievements I've ever dealt with, then it's a great game. If you want to 100% the game then I'd recommend just playing Half-Life 1. Graphics aside the original still holds up really well.

That was my very first Half-Life. Its incredibly high reputation naturally raised my expectations significantly. It only managed to live up to those expectations in some areas. It’s undoubtedly a very good game, and it deserves its reputation. Back then, Half-Life 1 must have been wild. What I liked best was the beginning, when you’re still discovering everything and don’t yet know what’s going on, and the end, when you’re so powerful that you can blast your way through those flying things. The middle part in the desert wasn’t really my thing. I’d like to specifically praise the level design again. There are no annoying signs or anything like that. The level is designed in such a way that the player is guided in the right direction without even really noticing it. That’s why it’s so satisfying to move through the level. You always feel a sense of accomplishment. Gameplay: 9/10 Story: 6/10 Music: 8/10 Replay Value: 7/10 Main Story, Black Mesa, 16h
