Black Mesa is exactly what a Half-Life remake should be. It takes the original game and completely rebuilds it with modern visuals, improved environments, better sound design, and a much more immersive atmosphere while still keeping the spirit of Half-Life intact. The Xen chapters especially deserve credit. They're much more fleshed out and feel like an actual journey rather than something you just have to get through. The level design throughout the game is fantastic, and there's a great mix of exploration, combat, puzzles, and scripted moments. The game isn't perfect, and a few sections can drag on a little, but overall it's an incredible experience. If you've never played Half-Life, this is a fantastic place to start. If you have played it before, it's still worth experiencing just to see how much work went into bringing it back to life. **10/10 — Gordon Freeman never looked this good.**

Not what I was expecting... It's BEYOND what I was expecting! when I heard about this game years ago. I thought it merely as a Goldsrc to Source port of Half-Life but it was a total remake of almost every level. In additional to being respective to its original story and gameplay. It added some useful utilities from Half-Life 2 like sprinting etc., New enemies were also very interesting (the [spoiler]HEV Zombie[/spoiler] is freaking terrifying! it's completely not what I'm expecting!) and the redesign of the original enemies and bosses were skillfully made from model to animation. Most importantly, the final levels were the pinnacle of the remake. Xen is vast, vivid, very otherworldly as it should be... they also dived in to more of the lore on how Freeman made friends with the Vortigaunts more clearly. For a fan-made remake, the time it took for it to be finished. For me it was worth the wait. Hope it's the same for Half-Life fans.

very good game it doesnt hold ur hand it trusts u to figure everything out on ur own wish more games stayed true to this xen was so well made and the atmosphere was crazy good It was a little long but very good overall If u havent played hl1 i highly recommend playing black Mesa or if ur just a massive hl fan Its worth playing this amazing remake if u havent already
