I had never even heard of this game until I saw an Asmongold YouTube Short talking about the dialogue in older games. It got me interested, and I'm glad it did. First of all, I had tons of technical issues. My controller either wouldn't work or had awful controls that couldn't be remapped. I experienced random FPS drops that forced me to restart the game every time, got softlocked twice, and ran into several other bugs throughout my playthrough. Even with all of that, I still recommend giving this game a chance. The voice acting is fantastic, featuring more than one well known voice actor, and the humor is excellent especially the chemistry between the protagonist and Cain. The story itself is fairly standard and doesn't do anything groundbreaking, but that's not a bad thing. The characters feel believable, and their actions make sense given their personalities. The gunplay is obviously dated, but it's surprisingly fun. You can't just stand still or sprint around carelessly, or you'll get overwhelmed. Instead of dying immediately, you can carry multiple medkits, which essentially act as extra lives. Your companions can also revive you, so it's common to get knocked down without actually failing the mission. Even though almost every enemy is a robot, there's a decent variety, ranging from small facehugger-like machines to flying drones and other robotic enemies. The biggest downside for me was the boss fights. While I appreciate that each one feels unique and cinematic, many of them are frustratingly unfair. The gorilla boss, for example, takes more than five full magazines to kill, and the TSAR fight is especially annoying because its minions can still damage your vehicle. Even if they don't, you're trying to hit specific weak points while in a moving vehicle, which can be incredibly frustrating. That said, there are some fantastic gameplay moments as well. The ski section was awesome it reminded me of an old Call of Duty mission and the entire sequence where you fight alongside Kurosawa was one of the highlights of the game. Overall, if you can get past the technical problems and occasional frustration, I would absolutely recommend this game.

“It’s like nukes!” Very fun shooting and level design with a pretty good, action packed story unfortunately hindered by really bad boss fights. This game has a really fun gimmick with shooting different limbs off a robot causing different effects. One of ryu ga gotoku studio’s stranger experiments but overall just a great time I should also note that modern controllers straight up just don’t work with this game by default and have strange, cryptic, and scary binds. If you plan to use a controller, use one of the community layouts on steam. Disabling steam input also may or may not work, your mileage may vary

The game is dated and the controls feel a little different at first, but after playing it for a little bit, I got used to the feel of the game and then really enjoyed it. I had this same feeling when playing Mass Effect 1. Both this and Mass Effect, I played the beginning several times before really giving them time to get interesting. I've have a backlog of many older games I never got around to playing and have been doing so lately and there is a feeling that these older games have that just make them fun to play. Maybe it's cause some of these newer games get a little over complicated and games like this is simpler so you can focus more on having fun and the story. If you've never played it, it is definitely worth a once over. FYI, a lot of my hours played was due to having a little one to take care of so I would have the game paused for hours at a time. lol It's a much quicker game than what I put into it.

It's pretty clunky but it's very funny, good story, graphics are decent (for 2012 release), gunplay is alright since for me even turning off aim assist the aiming still feels like it's being assisted.

Playing this in 2026 is interesting. The story is about robots and AI...scary they might have nailed it. Fun to play, especially because of sense of humor that used to be so normal and today you would say it is impossible to do such a thing today, because of too sensitive times we live in. It's not too obsolete as it might look, it is a good game. You just have to get through first hour of suffering due to key mapping...and turn off voice commands, it doesn't work really well. Around 8-9 hours on hard difficulty. Expect Hollywood style, so don't take it too seriously.
