There's a two third's chance Billy Bumbum's bum is displayed on your screen at any one time in Billy Bumbum: A Cheeky Puzzler. I admire the audacity of this design choice that likely narrowed BBB's already quite small audience of PPPs (pure puzzle players). So is the game good? It's fantastic. BBB deserves a wider audience even among puzzle fanatics. In every level you roll Billy's cubical body around and deposit his bum in a magic pot of purple stuff that launches him into the sky with magic farts. In some levels you also rescue your imprisoned friends who then attach alongside Billy to Mama Dragon. It's incredibly stupid and it doesn't matter whatsoever. It took me 30+ hours for full completion of BBB's ~250 puzzles and, besides a few very late game puzzles that were not as grippy as I prefer, I had a grand time throughout. Difficultly ranges from easy to occasionally quite difficult. Puzzles are highly deductible and typically have very tidy, satisfying solutions. Many puzzles have surprising twists that will have you nodding your head in approval. I had some initial concerns whether BBB could hold my interest over so many levels, especially with the relatively few mechanics introduced throughout. I was wrong to worry and it's no wonder why when you watch the credits. The several designers who shaped BBB's puzzles are stalwarts of the puzzle scene, including the great Lucas Le Slo. There is a polish to these puzzles that shines as bright as Mr. Bumbum's bum in the summer sun. Visuals are clean. Dialogue is appropriately ridiculously silly. Music grows a little tedious because there's just a few tracks that play at random, jukebox style, when you load a level. Just throw on an audiobook or something and you'll be fine. I do wish you could turn off the transparent "ghosts" that show where Billy can move. Sometimes they clutter the puzzle and can hurt readability. Overall, puzzle fans of all skill levels should love BBB. An easy recommendation even at full price. BBB has quality puzzle design in spades.
A fun puzzle game with a very cool art style and enjoyable characters.
Whatever you do, please don't mistake Frambosa's new release Billy BumBum for a silly kid's game. It's a solid puzzler with great level design, interesting mechanics, and tons of levels. A great buy for any puzzle fan. Despite its silly theme, Billy BumBum is a solid puzzle game. The concept's simple; move a block from A to B, navigating gaps & traps while also trying to control your facing. It's challenging and fun. Cute puzzler, nice puzzle game with a fun art style. Recommended for some laid gaming. :)
A fun and unique puzzler! There's so many levels with a good difficulty curve, a new puzzle element in each Biome (World), and the side characters each have a lot of personality!
Fun puzzler so far. Eases you into it, butt it does eventually get challenging.
Loved the game! Super cute with some very challenging puzzles (at least for me...). Sometimes is hard to start thinking with your butt...
This is a fun rolling puzzle game with a cutesy, silly veneer and bums over top of it. The rate at which they introduce new puzzle concepts to you feels right on the money, as the complexity and difficulty ramps up with that something new then gets introduced. It was enough that the puzzled don't feel unfairly punishing at all. Most solutions could be reasoned out if given enough time and patience.
Giving a thumbs-up for now. I generally enjoy Sokoban-like games. The issue with this one is that you must land on the end square with a particular side of your "cube" facing down, but most blocks you move over disappear after you exit them. This requirement for positioning isn't the kind of puzzle I tend to enjoy, and in fact to me it makes some levels too prescriptive. That is, there might be multiple solutions--none of which, in my opinion, need to be trivial--but only one of them is acceptable because of this constraint. So far, this has been a mild annoyance on a few levels; on many, there really is only one solution and you naturally end up in the correct position after executing it. On a very small number of levels so far (at time of this review, I'm almost done with the second "world"), the game gives you an area near the exit where blocks will not disappear and thus you can reposition yourself without any problems. I wish more levels had an area like this.
Bumbum is a charming puzzle game that strikes the perfect balance of challenge and relaxation. Its colorful, cozy art and hilarious NPC interactions make every moment delightful, while its clever level design keeps you engaged without ever feeling stuck. The puzzles are satisfying to solve, often sparking 'aha' moments long after you’ve stepped away. While the concept is simple, its heartwarming charm and polished execution make it an absolute joy to play.
