It possesses some neat ideas & genuinely fun to play puzzles. Yet better use of available mechanics could have made for more satisfyingly complex challenges for a fanbase preferring more serious puzzles. It lacks polish & some flimsy physics resulting in strange behaviour & bugs that can lead to a soft-lock & wasted effort when the forklift gets stuck. Totally scripted & with no endless/daily mode, there is nothing to do after completing the current content. Given the negatives & expensive price its the wrong side of a recommendation. One to MAYBE consider. Has a very concise gameloop allowing the focus to be solely on puzzle-solving across a thematic world map. The only distractions being a few benign optional side-quests to complete for each level. Driving the forklift is fun & whatever comedy & parody there is, is subtle at best. ⚫ ⚪ ⚫ PUZZLES possess the simplistic qualities suited for their intended audience. Mainly due to a narrow scope & limited objects to interact with. Some familiarisation across levels allows players to accustom themselves, but not for long. Different puzzle level styles, layouts, objects & objectives provide decent variety, to stifle repetition. The only downside being that they could have been used more creatively. ⚫ ⚪ ⚫ COMPLEXITY is low due to the design of puzzles, but varied due a healthy range of puzzle elements. The need for lifting & placement of vehicles forms the bulk of the actions needed to complete objectives. Most involve vehicle colour & corresponding parking areas. Vehicle cleanliness, access gates, multi-layer parking, spray workshop, car wash, car alarms & keep clear zones add a little depth for more interesting gameplay, but most aren't used enough. A shame damage isn't modelled to add a degree of finesse to puzzle-solving. Along with more environmental concerns to fully utilise exposed electrical wiring or make more use of fire hydrants. ⚫ ⚪ ⚫ CHALLENGE is barebones. Based solely on understanding the requirements of objectives, while not self-defeating by any physics weirdness. Unfortunately there are no time-limit or scoring complications linked to completing levels without damaging anything. Difficulty is pretty low throughout, with only a very few proving taxing to any degree. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3739545304
SPECIFICS:
⚫ ⚪ ⚫ DRIVING is generally okay, but the interaction between vehicles & objects can be janky & in some cases detrimental to the enjoyment of trying to find a solution. Tight level layouts do not do the player any favours. Getting caught on walls can happen frequently & leave the forklift wedged stuck. ⚫ ⚪ ⚫ PHYSICS mostly work fine, but are not entirely convincing. Sometimes appearing flimsy in places. Vehicles can get stuck against objects, become glued with other vehicles. The forklift in particular can demonstrate some strange behaviour when carrying a vehicle & catching on things. In the worst case scenarios soft-locking can happen, forcing the need to restart the level. More robustly implemented physics would eliminate these oddities. ⚫ ⚪ ⚫ MISSING FEATURES aren't many given it's a casual game. Could do with a ranking/scoring system linked to a lack of damage or completing levels within a time limit. The over-world map could provide a better overview of bonus progress without having to visit each node. A jukebox feature to choose/repeat preferred tracks would have been nice. ⚫ ⚪ ⚫ ANNOYANCES are equally few with no persistent save on gameworld. An inconsistent self-righting mechanism can literally lead to soft-locks & the need to fully restart levels. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3739545964
ANCILIARY:
⚫ ⚪ ⚫ AUDIOVISUALS do their best to generate a chill mood, but can't escape their asset looks & sounds. The Ghibli & Japanese setting is visible, though more distinct Kei or Japanese would have been nice. Music tracks vary from unimpressive lounge tunes, to menu music that is a better mood setter. ⚫ ⚪ ⚫ UI fulfils a simple role. Perhaps the only change to make would be to provide a better overview of objective completion for all levels on the world map at a glance, rather than having to visit each node individually. ⚫ ⚪ ⚫ ACCESSIBILITY matches the simplistic nature of gameplay, but enough clear instructions aren't provided for a very few of the 'more complex' puzzle objectives. No colour blind support could pose problems as many of the puzzles require colour coordination. ⚫ ⚫ 🟤 STAYING POWER sadly finishes just as the game starts to get interesting. Beyond the handful of hours the basic mode provides, there is nothing to keep the player invested or replay the game apart from revisiting levels for missed side-quests. A lack of dynamic level generation reduces replay value considerably. Something an endless mode or daily challenge would have given beyond achievement completion, which is pretty easy. ⚫ ⚪ ⚫ PRODUCTION is rough in parts. Controls a little clunky. Its in need of polish & some bugs can eliminate the effort expended on particular levels when soft-locks occur, but nothing that will break the game or that spoils the fun too much. ⚫ ⚪ ⚫ PERFORMANCE is stable. It will run on older PCs, but optimisation isn't perfect, as the CPU fan runs loud unless settings are set down to bare minimum. Even then it will come on in the most innocuous levels for no apparent reason. The keyboard seems a better option, as using controller is less intuitive.
《Do You even Forklift?》简评

相当有趣的的一款解谜式叉车模拟器
《Do You even Forklift?》是一款卡通画风的解谜叉车模拟器游戏。
Overall I really enjoyed the game. It's got a lovely cosy vibe to it, and it runs grand even on my ancient PC. Played it with a controller as well, no bother at all. I'd happily sink more hours into it, even if there are a few rough edges that could do with a bit of polish. There are some minor bugs here and there, but nothing that ever really breaks the game or stops you playing. Only thing I'm not too sure about is colourblind accessibility, since a few puzzles seem to rely quite a bit on colour. Other than that though, solid experience and I'm looking forward to seeing it improved over time.
This game is not bad. It has some interesting puzzles, however it gets quite repetitive. Towards the end I was slightly bored and found that I was doing the same thing over and over again. I am still giving this a positive review as it is a cosy puzzle. It has about 4 hours on gameplay if you are taking it slow. I am not a big fan of having to collect a cat before going into each level but I enjoyed getting the ramen during each level.
So far so good, highly recommend
Really nice puzzle dexterity game with quiet creative ideas how to rearrange cars on the parking lot. Not that much of a brain teaser, can get quite tricky on the more physical demanding levels but never unfair.
fajna gra na początku trochę za prosta ale potem się rozkręca
I've only played a couple of hours so far, but I really enjoyed it. The puzzles are approachable and it's really fun to finish a level the "wrong" way.
Yes I do! With a ramen, cats, cozy music and a lot of accidental destruction :D
