I’m about 3/4 through the game from what I can tell. Before I Go is a must play for anyone who enjoys Metroidvanias with difficult platforming. The controls are extremely tight and responsive, similar to hollow knight or megaman x. The platforming areas are thoughtfully designed and fair. Combat abilities gained throughout the game are helpful and each is useful for different situations. The art style and music create a sense of loneliness similar to super Metroid. I’ve beaten every good Metroidvania and consider this among the best. Highly recommend. I hope this review encourages more people to try the game so we can get a dlc or sequel
If you like platforming in your metroidvanias, this game is for you. Nice upgrades, good map, & overall a very enjoyable game.

This game is great. Very tricky. Not all areas are accessible even in the beginning. I look forward to beating this game and unlock more of the areas.

I've played dozens of Metroidvanias. It's my favorite genre by far. Before I Go is great for MV fans who love a fast pace exploration without many headaches and fun combat along the way. The game provides several upgrades at a reasonable pace as well. Exploration is rewarded with upgrades and narrative. It's not a long game, but that's what I like.

Challenging and incredibly addicting game that pays homage to the greats of the Metroidvania genre. The ease of going through the world with non-linear exploration made the time go by in a flash. Highly recommend for any fan of the genre.
Great platforming, but don't expect deep lore or a tough fight. If you’re just looking for a fun way to satisfy a Metroidvania craving, this is it. Score: 3/5
This game is very addictive. It's the platforming Metroid-esque that kept me going for hours. I wanted to continue exploring, backtracking and finding new abilities to progress into the next area. The art style is lovely, brings a lot of spirituality into the game. The music is eerie and matches well with the theme of the game. The bosses are a bit more on the easy side and too far between but if you love platforming and challenges more then this metroidvania is for you. I think this game could use more color, maybe areas looking a bit different, like I wouldn't mind even an additional biome full of nature. I haven't finished it completely yet but so far I am enjoying it a lot. I definitely would recommend this metroidvania and even would consider this to be the perfect starting metroidvania if you've never jumped into this genre before.
