Farooq it’s the zombie apocalypse man stop calling me broke
this game is sick as hell
Great soundtrack, fun weapons, probably the hardest survivors game I've ever played.
Controller schnappen, zurücklehnen und eine Runde spielen......und noch eine und noch eine und noch eine...........und nur noch eine..........
This review is going to be an odd one, as I personally don't enjoy the game and will likely be refunding it. That said, I fully recommend this game, it just isn't for me. So much of this game is great. The setting, the club house that you can build up/fill out, the massive amount of unlockable characters, and the soundtrack is just so damn good, and I say this as someone that really doesn't listen to rap since they drop the N word every other breath. It's more DangerDoom (Danger Mouse and MF DOOM and just so good with a punchy rhythm that fits the setting so good. The gameplay is also very different from most games in this genre. Rather than just firing off a weapon every few seconds, you have a melee attack unique to each character that just smacks the crap out of nearby enemies. This can range from slow, heavy dropkicks, to rapid punches and kicks, to slamming the ground and creating a shockwave, the list goes on. So what is my problem with it? Well, the game has ground hazards, tons of them, and it feels like you're tripping over poison or fire constantly, which rapidly drains your health. I've heard there are characters that just turn this feature off entirely, but not being able to play 99% of the roster just to have some fun really doesn't sound good. The metaprogression also feels painfully slow, upgrades start at $1,000 in game money, and drops only go up to $100, which most drops being $20. It's just... ridiculously difficult, more difficult than what works for me. Please note I say "works for me". If you like intense survivor-style games that'll test you, you're going to enjoy this game, and I think you'll genuinely have a great time with it. NuChallenger built something genuinely special here, it's just not for me and I'm one of those people that can respect that. Grab it if all that sounds good to you, you're in for a real treat that has no problem giving you a rough trashing.
got 12 hours on the demo and so pumped this is here
A great twist on the Survivors-like Genre! Harder than many, the environmental hazards it adds keeps you on your toes, the weapons are varied and fun. and the rescued survivors add a nice little management aspect. The levels are fun and inventive, and it's very easy to get in the zone and beat up on zombies for an hour or two without noticing the time fly. The music selection absolutely owns, and adds to the immersion. If I was to add a major criticism, leveling and combining weapons is weirdly hard - I've had to wait until almost 18 minutes into a 20 minute level to finally get a combo before! Also, some combos feel like an outright downgrade, especially the ones that reduce range when you need to be kiting a boss. Anyway, definitely at least play the demo if you like survivors-likes and/or wish they were a bit harder. Bonus points if you love NYC and/or underground rap.
New York Zombie Apocalypse Simulator.
A truly original bullet heaven w/ deep build crafting, genuine difficulty, & a killer soundtrack.
